what’s going on with everglow? a much needed and VERY long thread on their mistreatment under yuehua entertainment

EVERGLOW debuted in march of 2019 under yuehua entertainment and have faced endless mistreatment and mismanagement since. i would like to focus on the key elements here, and believe me when i say this thread isn’t even everything.

in december 2021, everglow had their last comeback with “pirate”. during promotions, yuehua entertainment announced that everglow’s maknae, yiren, will be going back to china until february 2022 to rest with her family and take exams. at this point there were no talks of [1/2]

any hiatus, and this was the last announcement the company made about her break from group activities since. [2/2]

everglow promoted as 5 members for the majority of 2022. they went on multiple festivals all over the world, and even held solo concerts in south east asia! during this time, yiren began her solo promotions in china.

for a background, yuehua is a huge company in china. like, think of them as the SM equivalent over there, srsly!! and undoubtedly, yiren’s promotions were an INSANE opportunity for her. she quickly grew on weibo and douyin, being invited for variety shows and modeling gigs.

she even released a chinese single “call call” in august! (which is rly good and everyone should listen to it)

despite this, fans couldn’t help but keep growing concerned as yh kept quiet about her hiatus. she was after all only supposed to stay until february. there was never a word of promotions and the “exam” excuse started to seem more and more like a smokescreen.

in reality, we don’t know how much time yiren spent with her family back home. we don’t even know whether or not her promotions were planned from the beginning, as it is hard to establish just how independent yuehua’s korean branch is from its headquarters in china.

yh could have promoted the other members’ solo, filmed content, ANYTHING. instead, they posted one 5 minute vlog every 3 months, and their only 2022 release “ghost light” was the result of thefatrat approaching yuehua for the collab, not vice versa.

yiren reunited with everglow in november :) as expected, yh made absolutely no announcement about this, yiren just silently came back and immediately resumed group activities. nevertheless, to all of us this seemed to be the end of this horrible period of confusion,,, well🫣

in december, yiren said on her bday live the grp is going to prepare for a cb soon. obviously, this cb never came. you can tell the girls are growing increasingly frustrated. meanwhile, yuehuas 1 year old bg has gotten 4 releases since debut, a lightstick, szn greetings, merch.

(obviously no hate to them or yena i know it’s not their fault so don’t attack me)
sihyeon literally filmed and edited her vlog from a few months ago herself because yuehua never provides english subtitles, let alone content in the first place.

their variety show, “everglow company” which started in 2021 has like 3 episodes. e:u talked multiple times about how she wants to write more songs for her group, yet the company doesn’t even give her singing lines. (like seriously)

when aisha became wrapped in false bullying accusations, yh did little to defend her. it took 10 months for them to be dropped, and in this time yh forbade her from posting ANYTHING on sns (she did participate in cbs, but it was silence besides that. no posts, lives etc).

someone was heard screaming at aisha on one of everglow’s lives in 2021. the company quickly deleted the live, and sihyeon later brushed it off saying the ceo got “scared of a bug”. my question is, if that were true, why go out of ur way to delete the live?

yuehua did not protect yiren during the insane wave of hate she got from knetz during pirate era. she was called slurs yall. DISGUSTING things with tens of thousands of upvotes for simply embracing her culture.

it’s just so obvious yuehua is using everglow as a quick and low effort cash grab by sending them to 10495920 festivals and concerts, not even bothering to buy them new outfits, they r literally recycling inkigayo fits. (1st pic is from pirate era promotions, 2nd from 2022)

#EVERGLOW is a 4 year old group. they have 25 songs, no full album, no lightstick, NO MERCH. their albums are pretty much out of print, never restocked. keep that in mind next time u wanna drag their sales!

they are a group of six incredibly talented, kind and charismatic women who love making music and being on stage, and it HURTS having to see their talents wasted under a company who doesn’t appreciate them :(
