Not sure who can use this information, but every time an industry union’s contract is ending, there are so many reality/non-fiction jobs as AMPTP stocks up. Seriously, I get multiple offers, former bosses reaching out, etc. That didn’t happen this year. 🧵 1/6
The reality (heh) is, with all the mergers that have happened, it’s been terrifyingly slow in reality/nonfiction, so many people out of work since last November. 2/6
I presumed it would pick up closer to when the writers’ contract was up. I was very wrong. It’s quiet out here. Too quiet. 3/6
Add to that that the shows that I’ve worked on, that friends have worked on… they’ve all already aired. 4/6
I’ve seen a few articles with quotes from AMPTP saying they have stockpiles of shows. That they’re not worried. From my (and many others in nonfiction) vantage point, they don’t have shows, they don’t have that stockpile - especially WBD and Viacom/Paramount. 5/6
