A summary of what transpired in the 🇮🇩 🇹🇭 brawl that took place in the #SEAGames2023 final based on what I’ve been told.

1. The seven minutes of stoppage time was up and the Indonesia head coach / staff members ran onto the pitch to celebrate thinking the ref blew for full time.

2. Instead, the ref blew his whistle to award Thailand a free kick near the halfway line.

He also gestured for the Indonesian coaching staff to leave the field of play.

3. Indonesia’s head coach and his assistants soon realized the game wasn’t over and quickly rushed off the pitch.

4. The free kick was taken which led to Thailand’s Yotsakon Burapha scoring a dramatic equalizer in the dying minutes of stoppage time to send the game into extra time.

5. Thailand’s staff coaches and bench players dashed over to celebrate in front of the Indonesian bench.

However, security quickly intervened and the crowd soon dispersed.

6. Fast forward to extra time, Indonesia’s Irfan Jauhari netted less than a minute into the additional period to restore Indonesia’s lead.

7. Indonesia’s staff returned the favor by running over to celebrate in front of the Thai bench.

This resulted in a massive brawl between the two coaching staff and players around the Thailand technical area.

8. After punches were exchanged, security guards halted the ugly confrontation before the ref handed red cards to Thailand’s Soponwit Rakyart, Indonesia’s Komang Teguh and members of both teams’ staff coaches.

Disgraceful scenes.
