The DeSantis camp is engaged in a propaganda campaign to smear Trump for COVID lockdowns
This revisionist history conveniently shifts blame away from the governors/mayors that actually issued and/or enforced COVID lockdowns/restrictions on residents

It’s well settled that quarantine powers to restrict in-state activities rest solely with state/local authorities
Trump never issued a national lockdown (or reopen) order because he never had the power to do so as President
To say otherwise is an outright lie

In mid-March, California instituted the first COVID lockdowns on residents in the US
By April 2020, +42 states & countless local governments followed California’s lead & instituted COVID lockdowns/restrictions on +316 million Americans living within their jurisdictions

Still, many state/local authorities wisely chose not to issue/enforce COVID lockdowns/restrictions
Unlike DeSantis in Florida, the governors of Arkansas, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah & Wyoming never issued state orders restricting non-essential activities

In 3/2020, DeSantis fed into early COVID hysteria by pushing for federal quarantines & domestic interstate travel bans
This countered Trump’s message pushing states to reopen
Trump ultimately ignored DeSantis’ request & didn’t institute such federal COVID quarantines/bans

As governor, DeSantis issued orders essentially closing Florida & restricting its residents rights to travel freely & conduct business
Trump did not force Florida to close in April 2020
Nor did Trump force DeSantis to reinstitute some COVID restrictions in June 2020

Attacks blaming Trump for COVID lockdowns are bad faith lies
Trump never locked down the US because he never had the power to do so
Trump consistently pushed for states/cities to reopen under constant attack
Blame rests w/governors & mayors that engaged in COVID tyranny

In conclusion, any clown pushing “Trump locked down America” propaganda is a bad faith actor you should probably ignore
They believe you’re stupid & openly lie to your face
