Getting to Inbox Zero in @tana_inc

Tana's Capture app on iOS is fantastic – I use it all the time.

That means my Inbox gets filled to the brim with links, photos, voice recordings, and ideas.

Here's how to get to Inbox Zero the Tana way:

This is how my inbox looks right now, as I'm writing this thread.

Just one node, but that's very rare – and only the case because I cleaned up this morning.

In any case, I want zero nodes here. The trick is the second button at the top: "Move to Date Created"

"Move to Date Created" is a very simple command that takes all the children of the inbox node and moves them to the day node of the date on which they were created.

Here is how it is configured:

This command makes my processing of the inbox simple:

1) Make sure any node in the inbox is tagged or linked in some way to the rest of my things in Tana.
2) Only when everything is connected (like this node now has a field >Topic(s) linking it to my AI topic) can I "clean up"

Now, why do I move every node to the day on which it was created?

For me, Tana's daily node is the perfect collection place – it gives immediate context for when I added something and what was going on at the time.

You could of course move everything to the library too!

To connect the command to your inbox, here's what you do:

1) Put your cursor into the title of the Inbox node
2) Hit Cmd/Ctrl+k and type "Configure node"
3) In the >Commands field, reference your "Move to Date Created" command
4) Done!

Hope that was helpful – follow me for more threads about using Tana!
