My brother, a Sydney Trains driver, is currently still on sick leave WITHOUT PAY due to the fatiguing effects from his recent first Covid bout. He thinks it would be dangerous to passengers if he went back to work not fully well. He’s being financially punished for doing

the right thing. And let me tell you, there are a fuckton of Sydney Trains crew right now who are working while unwell. He caught Covid at work despite being one of the few crew members who stills masks & distances. He’s forced to take his breaks in rooms without

windows that are not ventilated or HEPA filtered, amongst knowingly unwell co-workers forced to work because they need the money.
If these crew were made to do their yearly medicals right now, I’m certain a lot of them would be pulled off their trains & told not to work.

Yet we have a current culture not only at Sydney Trains, but majority of workplaces, that are deliberately creating unsafe environments for both workers & the public. I wonder how the public feels about sick drivers with fatigue driving their trains?

I feel very frustrated & angry on my brother’s behalf. Since he’s keeping the Sydney commuting public safe we’re going to have to stretch our combined funds until he’s well again. (I’m poor & on DSP, BTW)
Just wondering if any of you even care???

We need Covid leave back for essential workers for a start. We need safe air in confined spaces. We need people who feel forced to work sick (they shouldn’t!) to mask the fck up, keep their distance & use basic cough/sneeze hygiene.

What say you, @ChrisMinnsMP & @johaylen???
And especially you, Sydney Trains @TransportforNSW &
@RTBUnion!!! How are you keeping your workers both physically & financially safe in these unnecessary unhealthy conditions???????
