The imam organised his formation into three divisions
Left Flank - Somalis all under Garad Mattan ( Largest Division )
Middle Flank - special forces under the imam Ahmed Al ghazi & Hamza al Jufi lead infantry
Right Flank - Harla & Zarba led by sultan Muhammad
When Hamaza Al Jufi saw the Abyssinians he couldn’t restrain himself from attacking he become excited craving to attack the Abyssinians until two of the Muslims held him back & told him to be patient. Arab Faqih notes the Somalis were just like Hamza Al Jufi
The Abyssinians began advancing & drawing closer towards the Muslims in 7 battle lines. Arab Faqih notes exactly

As the Abyssinians drew closer there was a large thick cloud giving shade to the Abyssinians while the adalites were under the scorching sun. The imam prayed two rakats & made dua to Allah
Before the imam even finished his Dua all of sudden the clouds started to move away
One of the Muslims gave the adalites a speech encouraging the adalites and giving them confidence
“ O band of Muslims, paradise is beautifully ornamented and Hell-fire is shut tight. The angels are gazing down, The Houris with wide black eyes are preening themselves rejoice”
Lebna Dengel then charged his troops they began attacking the Muslims it was bloody battle, they began attacking the right flank but the Muslims managed to resist them
On the left flank the Somalis were hugely outnumbered they fought a bloody battle against the Abyssinians but were overwhelmed due to the left flank being outnumbered. Some of the Somalis-
retreated but 3000 of the Somalis died in battle. Holding firm & not retreating was Garad Matan Bin Uthman Al Somali & Ahmed Girri Bin Hussein Al Somali the generals of Adal Sultanate
The imam said “They fought a fine jihad their achievements this day are truly Gods doing ”
The battle intensified went on until cloud dusts formed no one could see each other some of Abyssinians mistakenly attacked each other. The fighting continued until The adalites managed to ambush them & push them out

The Abyssinians casualties were extremely heavy & to add on the casualties of their influential people were high, 10,000 highly influential Abyssinians were killed & -
200 Abyssinian patricians were killed
One of them being Maha tenta who was a patrician was struck in the eye by one of the somali Adalites his name was Adam he was the commander of spearmen forces

The Muslim casualties in the battle of shimbara kura were also high, out of the 12,000 Muslim soldiers that fought in the battle 5000 had died in battle out of the 5000 Muslims
Who died 3000 were somali from the Somali division and 2000 being a collective of Arabs,Somalis Zarba, Harla from the other 2 divisions
These casualties are no surprise as Somalis were the majority in Adals army 🇸🇴
