After we dissected the latest slanted story on vape policy by @AP, we went back and re-interviewed one of the key sources. Turns out there was lots of key info that reporter Matthew Perrone omitted. Let’s examine.
THREAD 🧵
Our VP @alli_vapes has a piece published today by the American Council on Science and Health @ACSHorg that dives deep on our findings about AP’s chicanery and the implications. Let’s walk through the takeaways.

AP cited Darrell Suriff’s company as one that is “flooding the market without FDA permission.” Notice too the cheap shot from Perrone on the employee bonuses. Seems like “under-the-radar" scofflaws getting rich, right?
Um no. The company has been in business more than a decade. They have tried mightily and expensively and proactively to comply w FDA’s arbitrary, shambolic regulations. But Perrone left out all these facts that Suriff told him:
But are they somehow evading FDA scrutiny? Again, demonstrably wrong. Here’s more facts Suriff showed us that are nowhere to be found in the AP reporting.
Here’s more on Suriff’s extensive and expensive effort to navigate FDA’s absurd regulatory labyrinth. Again, this is a company that is trying HARD to comply with the law. AP and Perrone had zero curiosity about any of this.
Suriff even tried to point FDA toward actual bad actors. They did nothing. That’s because it’s far easier to target companies like his that are established businesses. But AP ignored that horrendous incompetence and double standard, even though it’s the heart of the story.
Let’s pause to note yet again that Associated Press receives millions of dollars in payola from one of the most ardent anti-vaping outfits in the world. We have repeatedly pressed Perrone and his editors for a justification, and they can’t find the integrity to even respond.
Every reader of Perrone’s copy would be right to ask if the purpose of his reporting is to inform the public with a balanced presentation of the facts — or if it’s to please his donors and further their stated agenda to leverage policy outcomes. /
