These are his 11 rules for life:

(Bookmark for later)

1. Be ready to start over

Getting 2/3 of the way to your goal and realizing that in order to reach it you need to go back down and start from scratch is very painful. But "the greatest creators have the ability to start over." - @naval

2. Inspiration is perishable

"Inspiration is perishable - act on it immediately" @naval When your inspired to do anything you should do it right away.

3. Be yourself

"No one in the world is going to beat you at being you" "You'll never be good at being somebody else" @naval

4. Make your play your work

"Do what feels like play to you, but looks like play to others" "Thats how I know no one can compete with me.. I'm just playing 16 hours a day" @naval

5. Don't let desires cloud your peace

"A happy person wants 10,000 things, a sick person just wants one thing" "Its your unlimited desires that are clouding your peace, your happiness" "Don't focus on more than 1 desire at a time" @naval

6. Make reading a habit

"I probably only read 1-2 hours a day and that puts me in the .001% and that alone accounts for any material success I've had in my life" @naval

7. Work on the basics

"To think clearly, understand the basics" @naval Understanding and grasping the basics is how you build higher level thinking.

8. Own your work

"You are not going to get rich renting out your time" @naval When you own a business that doesn't involve selling your time you can earn while you're sleeping, playing, & on vacation.

9. The new leverage

"The last generation the fortunes were made by capital, the new generation the fortunes are all made through code or media" "They are permission-less, they are equalizers of leverage" @naval

10. Empty space is important

"You should budget 1-2 days a week where you have nothing on your calendar and you just have time to think" "it's only after your bored that you're going to have the great ideas" @naval

11. Don't require external validation

"If you can just sit for 30 minutes and be happy, you are successful" "The real winners are the ones who step out of the game entirely, who rise above it"
