Alright fellas, new thread about Otakemaru, this one actually sets very intersting conections between he and another FGO character that is actually very important...to an extent
With no more delay lets once again get into Otakemaru's deep lore

First things first, no legend explains the origin of Otakemaru, what we know is that he came from the heavens over the Suzuka Mountains and started killing and looting humans including tributes to the emperor
Fate's Shuten said that he was violent even to oni standards

Otakemaru is not a regular oni, he is a Kijin, a divine existance even tough we dont know why he is a devine being however he is the one who bears the title of "Oni god" and is often taken as the most powerful of the oni kind such as being one of the three greatest yokai of japan

Real life legend has he being killed in battle by the hero Tamuramaro who had help from Suzuka Gozen(woman who Otakemaru was in love with) and from the indian/japanese buddhist gods such as Bishamonten, Otakemaru however came back from the dead to fight a second time...

Fate has Otakemaru being Murdered by Suzuka who tricked him into marrying her ( he was in love with her after all), she spent three years constantly using magic to lower his defenses once Otakemaru had a invulnerable body that no weapon could damage.

She did that to prevent the fight between Otakemaru and her Husband the hero Tamuramaro since the conflict would put Tamuramaro's life ate great risk once nor weapon be sword or arrow had an effect on the "Oni God"

Thats resume his lore both IRL and in fate so we can go to the thing i wanted to bring here

When Otakemaru arived at the Suzuka montains he held with him three divine swords named the "Sanmyō no ken", but who had the individual names of

Daitōren, Shōtōren and Kenmyōren

He would later give this swords to Suzuka's as a mean to keep her safe since once again, this guy was madly in love with her ( the feeling was not mutual at all lol ) and These swords show in fate as Suzukas NP's that give her great mental powers

The swords that once were held by Otakemaru giving her mental powers and making her brain work as a computer that could compete with the moon cell itself actually makes sense since Suzuka says thay even tough he looked brute and was violent Otakemaru was very smart and scientific

Fate says that the swords are swords of knowledge that once belonged to Manjushri the oldest of the indian buddhist bodhisattva, however these three swords are way more rooted in India and buddhism that that, follow this one....

The IRL legends about the swords actually explains how they arived at the hands of Otakemaru, an oni as it says:

"These three swords were given to the oni kind( reads Otakemaru since he arived on earth with them) by the asura named Tenma, the demon king of the sixth heaven

and a single blow of the swords could decapitate one thousand heads"

and the swords being given to him by the "Demon king of the sixth heaven" is actually important in fate you know...

Thats cuz we alredy saw Tenma in FGO, it was using a more popular name however...

If you dont know, by Tenma the demon king of the sixth heaven we are actually talking about the demon Mara, the sworn enemy of Buddha and Buddhism itself.

More know to fate fans as Kama/Mara, or better yet

Beast III

So yes, Otakemaru now has a relation with one of FGO beasts, wich is actually more funny due to certain reasons like:

- Suzuka is the daughter of the demon king of the fourth heaven so her husband having something to do with the demon king of the sixth heaven is ironic

- The other members of the Three great Yokai have strong relations to divine spirits being

Shuten/Ibuki Douji the daughter of Yamata-no-Orochi

And

Tamamo-no-Mae being an aspect of the goddess of the sun Amaterasu

So Otakemaru being related someway to Kama/Mara makes sense.

- In the legends i told in the beginning of the thread...
Otakemaru after being killed the first time comes to life again, what happens is that even tough his body gets killed his powerful spirit is kept at this would

and as a spirit he travels to INDIA for a loooong time ...

Before going back to Japan and reforming his body from zero and fully coming back to life, wich is intersting since Kama/Mara are the "same"(diferent takes for Hinduism and Buddhism as i understand) person being part of both indian Hinduism and Buddhism

So the Hindu deity of carnal pleasure Kama has a indian Buddhist take being the demon of pleasure Mara, Buddhism which went to Japan and is very related to Otakemaru's legend having him receiving his swords of the Buddhist demon Mara

-Otakemaru lived in a demonic castle with his oni army...
He lived in the Suzuka Montains, which were in fact not a single mountain but a mountain range with a lot of peaks, it has seven great peaks, being one of them named...

Mt. KAMA

So, this might be crazy of me but i belive that due to that the same Way Minamoto-no-Raikou/ Ushi-Gozen(Raikou oni part) were daughters of Indra the indian god of thunders

Fates's Otakemaru also came from Kama/Mara in some way that we dont know yet.

They even have similar horns to an extent

Thats what i wanted to say today

It would be a cool way of Nasuverse explaining why Otakemaru is a divine being(Kijin), why he went to india for a time in his legend, why he have his buddhist holy swords and all that

Btw i ask for forgivines if i said something wrong about Kama, Mara, Hinduism and Buddhism

i am only a Brazilian having to read on both english and japanese sites to lern more about his favorite oni and am trying to explain the point with what i understand :')

@InferniaRosarum With her plan, and in the discarted script that had Otakemaru as the villain it seemed he was able to manipulate the moon cell to an extent and create a reality that we wanted
However he would need Suzuka to keep it, due to the swords he gave her i theoryze 🤔

@InferniaRosarum What i really wanted to talk about that was

-Otakemaru is actualy very smart (since they are his swords)

-Otakemaru is related to Kama/Mara

@InferniaRosarum He gets 100% pissed by the fact his subordinates got hurt this bad and humilated that he rips the giant metal chains with his bare hands and declarares war on human kind as revenge to the pride of his army ( kinda cute? )

So yeah he can tear even metal with his hands 👀
