Pilot ejects from F-35 plane in North Charleston, South Carolina and the pilot was found on a nearby city street just north of the airport. This aircraft is from MCAS Beaufort. Thanks @ShanKelly10 for the link
Official update:
As of 2215 Zulu, the F-35 remains MIA
The F-35 was apparently on autopilot during the time of the ejection. Charleston was landing runway 15 (to the southeast) at the time meaning the F-35 possibly has flown itself out into the Atlantic Ocean 😳 Update via @RiggerBunny
Pulling up weather data from Charleston, SC at the time of the mishap… you could quickly determine that pictures of the alleged crash site were incorrect. A quick thinking @LGalrao did a reverse image search and figured out that the pics posted in this post were bogus.
@LGalrao Last know position:
South Carolina F-35 crash update : SWEDE 11 flt (F-35B VMFAT-501 MCAS Beaufort, SC) was communicating with Charleston Air Traffic Control around 2:30 PM local time. SWEDE12 (wingman) sounds like they lost contact with SWEDE11 (lead aircraft) Playback of ATC communications via @liveatc along with weather radar and ADS-B data via @ADSBex at the time, indicated that several commercial airlines discontinued their approach due to thunderstorms in the area.
This is what a unmanned F-35 may have looked like over South Carolina with no pilot
Over 12 hours later, The F-35 pilot has been reported to have ejected over a populated part of Charleston, SC and picked up by EMS… no pics or video. $156 million stealth jet goes missing and the only search aircraft that has been seen is a South Carolina State Police helicopter via ADS-B. Something seems off here… Last month a USMC F-18 was lost near San Diego and a helicopter searched until something was found.
@F111Driver @KathrynMClark2 Oh.. I see the problem now 🤦🏻♂️ Just ignore me
