🧵Combat Engineer Tractor (CET) in the Falklands 🇫🇰
Armoured vehicles played some key roles throughout the Falklands conflict but one Sapper vehicle in particular was used to great effect during the initial landings, the FV180 Combat Engineer Tractor aka The Frog. 🐸
1/
The CET was used mainly to support the logistical effort initially but some of the others tasks it was given was digging in ammunition bunkers, gun positions, HQ positions, rapier emplacements, air support inc bulk fuel installation, and route upgrade with Class 30 trackway.
2/
There was some initial training on Ascension Island where the Frog was swam and tested on and off the beaches. See videos below.
3/
6 CETs were requested by the Brigade but only two CETs were fit and ready in time. These two travelled South and went ashore at San Carlos with one suffering a breakdown due to mine strike ivo of Estancia House at a latter stage and one making it through the entire conflict.
