Warner Bros. is in the process of restoring and remastering their animated catalog. Tweety gained a cult following in Japan so it made sense to capitalize on that while also serve it as a testing ground for potential future DVDs.
Volume 1 was released on April 6, 2001. It contains 10 Tweety and Sylvester cartoons with one bonus cartoon starring Bugs Bunny.
Here are the Friz Freleng shorts.
- “Tweety’s S.O.S.”
- “Catty Cornered”
- “Greedy for Tweety”
- “The Jet Cage”
- “Muzzle Tough”
- “The Last Hungry Cat”
- “Tweety’s Circus”
- “Dog Pounded”
- “A Street Cat Named Sylvester”
- “Bad Ol’ Putty Tat”
The bonus Bugs Bunny cartoon…
“Bully for Bugs”, directed by Chuck Jones.
No polls will be done for this review/retrospective. Disc 1 starts the series out strong with many favorites like “Tweety’s S.O.S.” and “Bad Ol’ Putty Tat” and some rare gems sprinkled in.
Volume 2 came out on July 6, 2001.
Once again, here are the Friz Freleng shorts.
- “All a Bir-r-r-d”
- “Ain’t She Tweet”
- “Sandy Claws”
- “Tree Cornered Tweety”
- “Satan’s Waitin’”
- “Tweet and Lovely”
- “Tweet Zoo”
- “Fowl Weather”
- “Snow Business”
- “Gift Wrapped”
The bonus Bugs Bunny short…
- “Baton Bunny”, directed by Chuck Jones.
Volume 2 is about the same in great quality as Volume 1. The shorts worth mentioning make the selection even better including “Fowl Weather”, “Sandy Claws” and “Gift Wrapped”. Just perfect.
Volume 3 came out on November 2, 2001. 10 Friz Freleng shorts and 1 Bugs Bunny short from Chuck Jones.
- “A Bird in a Guilty Cage”
- “Putty Tat Trouble”
- “A Pizza Tweety-Pie”
- “Hawaiian Aye Aye”
- “A Bird in a Bonnet”
- “The Rebel Without Claws”
- “Red Riding Hoodwinked”
- “Canary Row”
- “Tweet Tweet Tweety”
- “Room and Bird”
The bonus Bugs Bunny cartoon…

Volume 3 can be described as above-average but the shorts selected make this disc worthwhile to complete the set. “Red Riding Hoodwinked”, “Canary Row”, “Rebel Without Claws”, and “Room and Bird” just to name a few.
In conclusion, I Love Tweety is the ideal set for Tweety fans.
That’s all for today’s #VideoWednesday. Join us next Wednesday as we begin our journey covering the Looney Tunes Golden Collection with Volume 1, Disc 1.
