Generation X: the most under hated generation

LGBT acceptance was primarily the work of Gen X activists, starting in the 80s, brought to full fruition with Obergrefell in 2014

AIDS was a Gen X thing- I could end the thread right there

But we’re just beginning to list their sins

Gen Xers, like Boomers, mock safetyism, but their sh!t behavior as teens is largely responsible the development of the short leash for kids today

Between their drugs, petty crimes and teen pregnancies, they made damn sure to ruin youthful freedom for everyone afterwards

Gen X culture relished everything gross and sarcastic, never meeting a pointless obscenity that they didn’t like - Kevin Smith and Sarah Silverman are prime examples

It goes hand in hand with their infatuation with tryhard nihilism, as seen in Fight Club, grunge, etc even though things weren’t bad at all in the mid 80s to late 90s. Maybe they didn’t get quite the sweet deal that boomers got, but they could have done so much with what they had

Let’s examine the icons of their generation, all urRedditors!- for example Kurt Cobain, Joss Wheedon and Billie Joe Armstrong

Hate the boomers all you want, but at least they produced a few worthy artists

Gen X’s music could be a thread of its own, but suffice to say they’ve never produced any meaningful lyrics- appropriate for a generation with nothing to say

There’s a forced meme around lately that Gen X are the last of the “real” men… but where was their war? Boomers had VietNam, Millennials had GWOT- Gen X had a 3 day camping trip in the desert

If there’s any basis to the claim they can’t make it on military service

Hopefully this thread helps squash the attempts to paint Gen X as some less hatable middle between the generations on either side
