First of all, I believe these are just allusions. Hoyo are referring to themselves, maybe to highlight that Fontaine history is cyclic. So, no, I don’t think that Wrio is related to Remus more than thematically.

Wriothesley is a big Remuria fan. Wriothesley is:

1. The first to mention Remus in the AQ
2. The first to mention Sybilla as the seer
3. Created Wingalet inspired by Fortuna
4. Was right about Scylla being a big vishap, no dragon

5. According to the new quest, Wrio is our source on Remuria

𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐔𝐒 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐈𝐄

• Both Wrio and Remus have a canine thing going on. Wrio… obviously, the way he looks, Cerberus. Meanwhile Remus leads to the myth of Romulus and Remus. Two boys were fed by a she-wolf.

(in EN Erinnyes uses the wolves and lambs metaphor in which Remus

would be a wolf but it exists only in English, so I wouldn’t count it)

• Remus’s and Wrio’s style of ruling is similar: being alone in their “office” but able to rule the whole land. And remember us listening to music in Wrio’s office?

Yeah, it fits. Also.. is the piano in Le duc sous l’eau even tuned? Or is there some discord, you know?

𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐀 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐒 𝐅𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆

In Wrio’s SQ there is some resemblance to Remus and The Fall of Remuria.

• Wrio as Remus and Dougier as Boethius: betrayal, ichor & mind control going on. Both Dougier and Boethius thought they acted similarly to Wrio and Remus

accordingly. But they were wrong. “They are not currency”, “that’s not what I want”.

• Then Wrio makes parallels to performances and uses such words as dissonance… Reminds of a certain someone who was very into art and music.

• Compare Wrio’s description of ichor to the name Remus gave to his melody. Phobos means fear in Greek. Well, “Phobos” turned out to be about fear and unpleasant things too, but that’s another story.

Everyone, say thank you @jackgreesm for this explanation (pic 1). Tldr: Remus could be inspired by actual Theodoric and mythological Dietrich and Wolfdietrich (a wolf again) from German history

and epic. Yes, by all of them. They share similarities and it wouldn’t be something new for Genshin to just use and mix everything related to a certain topic. There are 2 things that interest us: Sigewinne whose name is related to Wolfdietrich (Remus inspo) but who is actually

close to Wrio. In some old files she was called Waghild. But in the end Waghild is where Wingalet comes from. The myth that mentions Waghild is related to Theodoric / Dietrich. Again, Remus-inspired but is actually about Wriothesley.

𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐒 𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐀

• Remus descended from Meropis. Actually, Meropide is Meropis in French.

• Cashflow description of Meropide and the country Remus and Scylla wanted to create

No divine intervention. And Wrio, the winner of the hoarder system, actively tries to improve Meropide, make it prosper for everyone. Like Remus, he is the one trying to make a positive change.

• Wrio is a good mechanic himself (his gloves, cashflow). And Meropide has a) arkhium mines; b) meka production. While in Remuria arkhium was used to create golems. I will use a Kaeya joke to avoid possible bonk for golems visuals lol Anyway, you can see the resemblance

Scylla and Remus made a promise. But they failed. Now this promise is being kept by another dragon and another king. Don’t forget that Meropide is independent from Fontaine. So Wrio IS a ruler: Fontaine and Meropide, law and order, upper world and underworld, etc.

Wriothesley and Neuvillette represent the two pillars of Fontaine and thematically correspond to Remus and Scylla (not a sovereign, but still a white dragon who was building a future for people).
