This week in @heraldscotland we are running an investigation: Glasgow School of Art fires. 10 yrs on from the first blaze, what is happening to the now ruined Charles Rennie Mackintosh building? A thread of some images I've taken of this beautiful building-

I've been very fortunate, as over the years I've been into the 'Mack' many times on various assignments for @heraldscotland . This photo was taken at 12.46pm on the 22 May 2014, nearly 24 hrs before the 1st fire that started around 12.30pm on 23 May 2014 @HeraldPictures 2/14

Here is the library, photographed on 13th December 2013. The photographs were taken for a story we were running about the newly refurbished windows in the library. @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 3/14

The three windows were removed for conservation work and restored to their former glory. In July 2013 the GSA began a £350,000 conservation programme of the three storey windows on the Scott Street facade of the Mackintosh Building. @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 4/14

Pictured on 31st March 2015. Fragments of the stonework that surrounded the windows in the library. Taken at a photocall when the GSA announced that Page\Park Architects had been appointed to be the design team that will lead the restoration of the Mack building. 6/14

This is the hen run, photographed on 2nd September 2014, 4 months after the first fire. @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 7/14

Restoration of the Mack was going well following the first fire. This is how the hen run looked on the 15 December 2017. @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 8/14

Another one from Dec 2017. Restoration was going well and the hen run was looking great.... @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 9/14

Taken on Monday 18th June 2018, fire crews at work on the Glasgow School of Art Mackintosh building following the second fire at the Mack that started the previous Friday, 15th June. @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 10/14

And how the Mack is looking now, taken on 18th March 2024. The Glasgow School of Art Mackintosh building is now covered in protective white plastic sheeting following the two devastating fires. @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 12/14

Here is our front page from yesterday, Monday 26th March featuring a stunning full page photograph of the second fire at the GSA taken by colleague Kirsty Anderson. Read more on our investigation: @KirstyCAnderson @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures 13/14 heraldscotland.com/news/24198315.…

I'll finish with this photograph I took on 7th September 2006 of the sign that sat above the main entrance to the Glasgow School of Art Mackintosh building on Renfrew Street. @heraldscotland @HeraldPictures #glasgowschoolofart #charlesrenniemackintosh 14/14
