HOW TO SURVIVE IN HOIMA CITY FOR NEW 🐝🐝🐝🐝 Thread
1- Avoid Kiryatete (Bad street, San siro etc)
2- Visit Arrows Bar/ Restaurant, you will be assured of decent company, boiled goats meat plus Mulokonyi (Kigere) & good vibes

3- Eat at Food courts restaurant (low end but great food), Amigos (for the northerners who want to have a taste of their cultural meals), and New sunshine restaurant.
4- Rent in Lusaka Upper (don't dare Lusaka Lower), Bujwahya- the rent rates are still low here. Kijungu (muyenga)

5- Avoid the slay queens you find sitter by themselves at the bar( Look for Jomayi if you must)
6- Nursing school has good people, enjoy their company but don't spoil them. (we need them to graduate please)
7- Boda Boda fares don't exceed 2k anywhere within 3km radius from town.

8- Swimming is cheaper at HB hotel, but Miika Eco resort hotel has the best swimming pool.
9- You can easily blend in with a Kitara FC jersey (get it at Main street opposite Stanbic bank).hold up, we only support Kitara fc here.
10- Take Albertine Water, it's the best quality.

11- Plots of land still go for 18-25m in the prime Kanenankumba (read Muyenga),Bujumbura, 10-15m in Kibingo etc.
12- Get fresh foods at Hoima Central market from 7am to 8:30pm
13- Main Street is like Kampala road- most banks are on this street. save for Centenary bank and BOA.

Wright road- famous for electronics and cosmetics. Old Toro road- boutiques and the Town mosque.
14- Hoima city has a very active night life, a friendly people, cheap food, accomodation facilities (as low as 15k for a night)

15- Notable pharmacies here; Allanz, Guardian health, 3Doc, Nilkanth, and the famous Gloria Pharmacy.
16- A local start-up, Citlax (formerly a good delivery app in 2022) is working on a platform to make easy access to all these services.

16- Schools; kindergarten- St.christina has been here as along as @NRMOnline has been in power, it's still the best. Primary Schools; St Jude, St. Francisco, Flobetto (high end) and Canan standout.
Secondary schools; we only know of Mandela and St. Andrea, plus Seminary

17- Tertiary institution; Hoima nursing school, Multitech business school, Gulu university, the famous St. Simon for vocations.
@RobinahNabanja_ promised us a university, fingers crossed

18- Tourism; the King's palace is within the city centre, Mparo Tombs is like 4km out of town, the caves (obwingira) used by the great Kabalega can be found at the present day Miika Eco resort hotel, Kaiso Tonya is 89km out of town almost the same as the rift valley escapements

19- Sports; booma grounds accommodates at least 50000 spectators (low key), it also has a public basketball court, Kitara FC remains the biggest export. St.Mark, Kitara as, Mandela and St. Andrea boast the best highschool football teams.

19- infrastructure; the city has one of the best road network (tarmacked) with street lights. Kijungu hosts most big offices like Cnooc, PAU, UNHCR etc, power is available most of the time, water is available but unreliable thanks to @nwscug

@nwscug 21- Health; Hoima main hospital also doubles as a regional referral hospital, private facilities like City medicals, Edpa, ABC, Kabalega and the latest addition AAR; medical schools- St Regina sch of health sciences, Hoima nursing school etc

@nwscug 22- investment opportunities; Tbh, Hoima is still virgin in most sectors especially business technology (we can partner here😁), real estate, leisure, accomodation are all promising sectors one can invest in and expect a good ROI

29- Forex Bureau; There is none in Hoima. We go to the available Commercia banks. Note that, their rates are never in your favor. God willing, we shall have an investor in this line of business.

30- Agriculture: In the city, poultry is the most common, however, food is grown in Kitoba, Kyabigambire, Buraru and Kigorobya sub counties. More food comes from greater Kibale, Kikubbe, and as far as Fort Portal, for especially Irish potatos.
Apples don't grow here😌😌

Livestock farming is also practiced here, most farms are located in Buseruka, the biggest farm is in Kitoba- Bwendero Dairy Farm.
Multiple vet drug shops exist here already. Notably; ABA Kitara, ABA Kabyanga (Fortportal road), and so many in Hoima Taxi park. A litre of milk 2kπŸ₯Ί

31- Religion: Predominantly Christian (Catholics take up the biggest %age), Other religions; Muslims, COU (Cathedral in duhaga), pentecostals, faith of unity(the least %age). A seminary school in Bujumbura next to the Hoima Catholic diocese cathedral, in the photo right here.
