Who all appear in both Ramayan and Mahabharat

There are many people who appear in the main events of both Ramayan and Mahabharat. This post is dedicated to them.

Shri Hanuman

Pavanputra Bajarangbali played very important role in Shriram's journey that everyone is familiar with.
In Mahabharat during Pandava's exile he meets Bhima to teach him a lesson in humility. He also promised Bhima that he would bless Arjuna during the upcoming war.

Maind and Dvivida

These Vanara twins were sons of Ashwinikumars and were generals of Sugriva's army that participated in the war against Ravan.

During Mahabharat they were ruling Kishkindha. Sahadev another son of Ashwinikumars meets Maind during his Rajasuya campaign towards south. Dvivida attacked Dwarka to avenge Narakasura and was killed by Shri Balaram.

Vibhishan

Rakshasraj Vibhishan was younger brother of Ravan who helped Shriram in his war against Lanka and is blessed to be a chiranjeevi.

During Shahadev's Rajasuya conquest he sent Ghatotkach to meet Vibhishan. Vibhishan sent multiple gifts for Yudhishthira's Rajasuya.

Jambvan

Wise old Jambvan played a key role in the events of Ramayan by being an important part of the war against Ravan. He was one of the three warriors who survived Indrajeet's Brahmastra.

Jambvan encountered Shrikrishna during Syamantak Mani episode. There was an epic duel between the two till Jambvan realised the divinity of Shrikrishna and asked him to marry his daughter Jambvanti.

Bhagwan Parashuram

Bhagwan Parashuram had an angry encounter with Shriram when he broke the divine bow of Mahadev.

Bhagwan Parashuram taught Dhanurveda to various warriors like Bhishma, Drona, Karna, Rukmi, Pandyaraj - most of whom participated in the Kurukshetra war.
Bhagwan Parashuram challenged Bhishma for a duel for the benefit of Amba which ended in an stalemate with Bhishma having the upper hand.
Bhagwan Parashuram also visited the Hastinapur court to narrate the glory of Arjuna and Shrikrishna trying to convince Dhritarashtra against the war.

Mayasura

The architect of Asuras was the father of Mandodari. His sons Dundubhi and Mayavi were killed by Vanarraj Vali.

During Khandava fire Mayasura was living in that forest and was protected by Arjuna. He returned the favour by building the famous palace of illusions for Yudhishthira and offered various celestial objects including Bhima's mace to them.

Matali

Matali is Indra's charioteer. When Indra sent his chariot to Shriram for his final battle against Ravan, Matali was driving it. Matali was the one who advised Shriram to use Brahmastra to kill Ravan.

During Arjuna's fight against Nivatkavach demons he rode Indra's chariot driven by Matali.
