At 6:18:54 pm on J13 - seven minutes after would-be-assassin Crooks was terminated - @SecretService Special Agent “Better Call Saul Goodman” asks, “Is the shooter down? … Is he a shooter? Did he have a weapon?” The local cop responds, “That was the report.”⬇️

At the exact same moment, with Crooks dead for more than 7 minutes, Special Agent "Shaft” and two other @SecretService agents are still cowering behind a large truck rig behind the stage with their guns drawn. (Curiously, that BWC video contains no audio.)⬇️

These two incidents were taking place long after the president had been evacuated and the existing threat eliminated. While @SecretService was clueless, local LEOs were all over the building, on the ground, and on the roof, securing the area and helping disperse the crowd.⬇️

Why were @SecretService so out of touch? Because USSS radios are siloed, and they did not prepare the event according to the standards established by the DHS’s Office for Interoperability and Compatibility, going back 20 years prior.⬇️

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) established the Office for Interoperability and Compatibility in 2004 to “strengthen and integrate interoperability and compatibility efforts in order to improve local, tribal, state, and Federal emergency response and preparedness.”⬇️
