Thread 🧵 1/
Despite what the press is erroneously saying, Trump was NOT legally eligible to vote in Florida when he cast his ballot the other day, because our state constitution prohibits it. So what happened?

2/ Election denier Cord Byrd is Florida's Secretary of State who oversees our elections. He has claimed on Florida's Dept of State website, that because Trump is eligible to vote in NY, that he can vote in Florida. This is false:

3/ Florida's Constitution is very specific about who is disqualified from voting. It makes NO EXCEPTION or deference to other states' laws. Article 6, Section 4 👇

4/ What happened is FL's Division of Elections and Palm Beach Supervisor of Elections *DID NOT FOLLOW PROCEDURE* in reporting Trump's conviction, then accordingly mark him ineligible. State statutes outline this process very clearly(F.S. 98.075):

5/ @orlandosentinel 6/7/24 Editorial Board: "By law, a mandatory review of Donald Trump's eligibility to vote in Florida as a convicted felon should have begun by now. It hasn't, and the trail of questions leads straight to Gov. Ron DeSantis."

@orlandosentinel 6/ According to state law, Trump should have been marked ineligible by July 31st. (F.S. 98.075).

7/ Making the scandal even more shocking, The DeSantis Admin. filed criminal charges against voters who were registered, same as Trump:

"On May 16, Rivers, 45, stood before a Gainesville court and explained why he thought he had the right to vote in the 2020 presidential election after a representative of the county elections office helped him register and he received a Florida voter ID card."

8/ Widely reported in the media: "elections experts say Trump is eligible in FL". They didn't check the statutes, they just read the lie on that website, and credulously repeated it as fact. My original post on this topic even got a bs community note:

9/ Some have said a conviction hasn't happened yet, bc Trump hasn't been sentenced yet. That's false:

10/ And look at this! The Florida Department of State website was just recently updated. Probably bc they were getting questions from the press about Trump's voter eligibility, so they posted a lie on a gov't website, and the mass media all reprinted it.

11/ Even @RonFilipkowski got it wrong, which is unusual for him. He's usually very strict in his attention to details like he's some kind of former Marine or something. Lol.

12/ Evidence of a COVERUP:

The FLDOS webpage was last updated July 12th, 2024. So, I went to check if there were archived copies of what it said before that date on the "wayback machine" internet archive tool. ALL previously saved versions of that page are gone. Erased from history.

Probably bc the words: "A felony conviction in another state makes a person ineligible to vote in Florida only if the conviction would make the person ineligible to vote in the state where the person was convicted." were only added bc the press were inquiring why Trump was still eligible to vote.
