It is true that Israel's killed thousands of Palestinian children. Jacobson does not dispute this. He just grants it no importance

The media coverage of the genocide is about the genocide. It is about the devasting human consequences.
It is not about Jews. It is not about Howard Jacobson.
Your anxiety about the factual reporting of a genocide is your problem - not ours.
Jacobson does not believe this should be reported - least it thematically invoke a 13th Century antisemitic myth.
There is no moral difference between this and saying Holocaust education is just anti-German racism.
