Aegean's Gordian Knot: Turkish Eurofighter VS Greek Rafale. Lets have a look how the rumoured sale of used Tranche 3 Typhoon to #THK can counter the Rafale+Meteor advantage of #HAF in the Aegean and Eastern Med

2/Due to possible restrictions (France) Meteor use is prohibited for TR Side. Regardless of that each Typhoon is armed with 6 BVR missiles Amraam C7 and 2 IRIS-T (just for simulation purposes, DB limitation). Our Scenario will focus on the BVR part mostly

3/Their mission to Gain Air Superiority over Kastelorizo island Airspace. Thus violating Greek Airspace in the farest island possible. Like creating a small crysis. The intense red area is the CAP Patrol area and the faded red the prosecution area (if enemy approached)

4/"On the left corner", 4 Rafale F3R of Thiseas Squadron are ready to take off to meet 'neighbors' halfway. They are armed with 4 Meteor, 2 Mica EM and 2 Mica IR.Both Greek and TR Jets are setup in the simulator to use realistic launch ranges (No-Escape Zone it being considered)

5/NEZ is a more dynamic criteria compared with static range because it is also related with Target Airspeed/Altitude, missile velocity etc. In simple words it helps preventing energy bleeding in long distances if you want to have a successful shot

6/A team of 4 Rafale Aircraft (Greece) is heading to meet 4 fully armed Eurofighter Typhoon (Turkey).

7/In the vicinity of Rhode Island before Greek Rafales reach Kastelorizo or their Patrol Area, Turkish Eurofighters starts their friendly approachement. At 60 nm Thiseas 2 launches its first Meteor

8/Just a couple seconds later, wingman of Thiseas 2 launces his Meteor salvo.A couple of momments later rest of the squadron. "Danger, danger" first Meteor's approach one TR Typhoon.

9/Typhoon is flying at speed of 1.24 Mach and doing a crank and drag evasion maneuver in order to bleed out incoming missile's energy and . First missile misses Typhoon but second one impacts it despite DASS efforts to Jam and deceive it

10/Rafales have increased speed to 1.34 Mach in order to pursuit remaining three Evading Typhoons. Their goal is to make sure that if any Invading Aircaft survives the Meteor Scramjet missile, they will face a barrage of Mica EM/IR salvoes

11/While Oz Turk #2 Typhoon EW Suite successfully spoofs two incoming Meteor missiles, his wingman Oz Turk #4 gets shot down. Momments later Oz Turk #3 meet checks his eject seat

12/Two remaining Meteor missiles are launched against the sole survivor of the Typhoon OPFOR jets. Oz Turk 2# is clever as he/she understands seems that even if he survives the 2 Incoming Meteor missiles, a 4 VS 1 medium range engagement will happen
He chooses wisely to RTB....

13/Unfortunately thirsty Meteor had different Opinion...

14/Some interesting statistics
Approximately 10 Meteors were required to shoot down 4 Eurofighter Typhoon. In total 2.5 missiles per aircraft.
This is a big improvement over the 1.2 ratio against F16V. Typhoons are much harder to defeat than most of the legacy F16 CCIP/V #THK

15/While Rafale is no better than Typhoon (aerodynamically or avionics), in "Gyro VS Doner" scenario, Greece has the upper hand due to the acquisition of Meteor advanced BVR Missile. Beware though that it is not yet determined if France will block Turkish Meteor procurement

16/Greece-France strategic Alliance will soon prove itself. Not allowing Turkey get Meteor in THK's arsenal is a key political decision. At least for a decade until TR will probably try to develop indigenous a scramjet missile
