If you disagree with this theory / headcanon it's fine ig but I've have experienced autism for my entire life and I know what I'm talking about. I know it when I see it !!
1 / - Masking
It may not seem obvious that Caitlyn has autism but when you take note of her surroundings you can see why that is. She is raised in a family that has high standards and a mother who is a council member. She doesn't have the privilege to express +
1 / - Masking
her unique traits, hence, her keeping to herself and never truly trusting anyone enough to talk about herself. As far as we know, she hasn't really talked about herself with Vi or even Jayce. (we'll return to the underlined portion later)
2 / - Childhood
From a young age, Caitlyn is assumed to be sheltered from more people her age, mostly being surrounded by her elders. Such as her parents, Grayson, and Jayce. From a distance, she doesn't seem to mind this a lot. It seems like she even enjoys +
2 / - Childhood
being able to observe what other people were doing around her. For example, in ep2 s1 when she was following Jayce around to see what he was up to, she didn't look bored at all, excited even.
2 / - Childhood
I believe that through-out her childhood, she developed an special interest (highly focused interests common in autistic people - wikipedia) in firearms and also the world around her, since she's been sheltered for such a long time. This can be +
2 / - Childhood
why she's so extremely skilled at aiming her gun, which she's been practicing since childhood, she's even seen holding her gun in a family portrait when she was very young.
2 / - Childhood
I also think she developed a special interest in the world around her because who does all of this research all by themselves without actually needing to, an autistic person, next.
2 / - Childhood
She also expresses feeling like a misfit to Jayce, meaning she's felt pretty out of place since a young age. Just thought that was worth mentioning.
3 / - Logic
Autism is a spectrum so not all are the same. With that said I feel like Caitlyn is the type of autistic person who is very logical, as if she relies on logic. Feelings and emotions are complicated but when it comes to logic things can be calculated and predicted.
3 / - Logic
I don't have any solid concrete evidence as to Caitlyn feeling this way but it would explain a lot. Especially how she confronts her feelings for Vi. She can't bring herself to verbally speak on it because these emotions are overwhelming and non-sensical-
3 / - Logic
for her, but she doesnt' really need to verbally speak on it. She has her facial expressions and touch to speak for her. She only uses her words for such personal emotions when she's desperate, aka, during the breakupimean rain scene.
4 / - issues with Understanding
People with autism can have a hard time understanding verbal communication. They can take sarcastic phrases literally and misunderstand what people mean when they are not extremely specific with their speech.
4 / - issues with Understanding
Caitlyn does this so much that I probably don't even need to provide evidence but I'll provide you with two instances anyway.
4 / - issues with Understanding
One time Vi asked her what the hextech crystal was and Caitlyn replied with,,, "It's a gemstone."
4 / - Issues with Understanding
Another time, Vi saw this big sign and asked Caitlyn what it was in which she responded with.. (Vi's "nevermind" takes me out everytime bruh 😭)
4 / - issues with Understanding
but yeah in a summary Caitlyn tends to take things very literally and at this point if u still think shes neurotypical than...

Extra reasons as to why I believe Cait has autism !
5 / - B O N U S
a) Since she was a child it didnt seem like she had any friends other than Adults or people who were quite older than her which is something that I also go through in my irl life as an autistic person. I just find (nice) adults to be far easier than people my age
5 / - B O N U S
a) And yeah she was pretty sheltered but I think she still has access to making friends yet she never really made any long term ones, as far as we know.
5 / - B O N U S
b) She doesn't seem to enjoy very social things, even through as a Council member's daughter she has the privilege of attending things such as cocktail parties, but decides not to, to focus on things she's actually interested in, like her job
5 / - B O N U S
c) She can have trouble understanding social cues, for example when she can't tell that Vi is already upset and comments on how her old home looks like there were dead bodies in the basement, ,,,

d) her stimming with her thumb in multiple scenes

when she had to ask Grayson if she let Cait win , it reminded me of this

Woke up today and decided I was a fool not to add this scene,, like just say u have autism and leave us all alone.
No but seriously she wasn't even trying to be a smartie here, she was just being genuine but the other officers took it in another light+

hence their reactions, which reminds me of one, Caitlyn has a special interest torwards that topic of airships and what not not, and also the fact our tone can be so flat at times we're seen as sarcastic or rude ALL OF THE TIME. You can see it in her face she +
6 / - additions
didn't mean any harm. Take it from me, people ALWAYS think im being sarcastic or trying to insult them when in reality for some reason I always have this tone that is seen as mean to allistic people, same with my face expression, hence why Caitlyn's

could be seen as rude or snarky from an Allistic's perspective.
