Here at the Kamala Harris rally in Atlanta, I wandered the crowd of thousands and asked voters the same question: How are you feeling about the Democrat’s chances in Georgia in November. The answers I got ran the gamut from confidence to anxiousness. Here’s a thread.
Jed Rich of Atlanta says he’s “hopeful and energized.”
“I view Trump as an existential threat to democracy. My father and both grandfathers are all U.S. military veterans and I think it’s a patriotic duty to vote for Kamala Harris. Trump is anti-democratic and anti-American.”
I spotted Mike Diamond’s Georgia hat in the crowd. He’s an East Cobb resident who is blunt about how he feels.
“I’m nervous. We cannot take four more years of Donald Trump. If you believe half the things he says, he will destroy our country. And there’s nowhere to run from it.”
Travis Culver of Decatur said he’s at once hopeful, optimistic and “very nervous.”
“I hoped that she would be further ahead than she is today. To hear the gap is closing in polls of swing states makes me anxious.”
Melissa Kilpatrick of East Point said she’s keeping her Georgia outlook “rooted in positivity.”
“I think we will be on pins and needles the night of the election, but I was very happy Georgia came through in the last election and confident we’ll do it again.” #gapol
Jeff Graham is a respected LGBTQ leader. Not long ago, he was worried “we wouldn’t have the resources we needed.
“We have them now. It’s going to be very close, and it’s going to come down to the last few voters. That’s what it means to be in Georgia politics these days.” #gapol
