The teacher is Madison Bergmann.
She taught 5th grade at River Crest Elementary in Wisconsin before resigning.
She was engaged.
The student was 11 years old.
Here are the 10 felony charges:
Prosecutors say they found 33,000 text messages between the teacher and student.
"Investigators were shown screenshots of a text conversation between Bergmann and the boy, with her talking about how much she enjoyed the child touching her and the pair 'making out.'"
"A search of Bergmann's bag also uncovered handwritten notes between the teacher and her student. Nearly 100 letters, love notes and artwork exchanged between the two were later recovered from Bergmann's classroom."
"Bergmann’s alleged abuse of the 11-year-old boy came to light when the student’s mother overheard her son talking to the teacher on the phone. Suspicious, the parents checked the boy’s phone and allegedly found salacious texts between the pair."
The teacher was supposed to get married to Sam Hickman on July 27th, but the wedding didn't happen.
The groom's friend: "He’s really, really hurt. Not talking too much about it, just like, ‘This is f–ked up.. He says it was f–ked up that she cheated with a little kid."
The teacher's "motion hearing is scheduled at 1 p.m. on December 19."
"During the motion hearing, more intimate messages between the disgraced teacher and student revealed that she allegedly said she wanted to 'lick' the boy's abs and that she liked touching his chest."
She "faces a maximum of up to 178 years in prison if convicted on all charges."
