🚨THREAD: Richard Stengel founded the State Department's Global Engagement Center (GEC).
He describes his job as "chief propagandist."
"I'm not against propaganda. Every country does it, they have to do it to their own population, & I don't think it's that awful."
@elonmusk
2) Richard "Chief Propagandist" Stengel wrote an op-ed advocating for the end of the First Amendment.
Stengel blamed Donald Trump's 2016 election victory on Russian disinformation enabled by free speech.
Ironically, he also spread disinformation about Russian disinformation.
3) Richard Stengel co-created Hamilton 68, a propaganda effort by the political establishment to label dissenting voices as "Russian disinformation."
It relied on a fabricated list of 600 supposed Russian Twitter accounts.
4) The Twitter Files exposed Hamilton 68 as a scam.
Yoel Roth, former Twitter head of Trust & Safety, said:
"Hamilton 68 accused legitimate American accounts of being Russian bots... There is no evidence to support their statements."

5) Richard Stengel, like many government "disinfo experts," repeatedly spreads disinformation, including:
• Steele dossier
• Russian collusion
• Russian bounties
• Fine people hoax
This aligns with his stance of being "not against" using propaganda on Americans.
6) Richard Stengel's GEC collaborated with a DHS-backed censorship network to censor millions of social media posts related to the 2020 election and COVID-19.
@MikeBenzCyber exposed how they used AI to systematically censor entire narratives.
7) In 2023, @elonmusk correctly labeled the State Department's GEC "a threat to our democracy."
Richard Stengel, its "chief propagandist," exemplifies why free speech is a fundamental human right that must be defended at all costs.
Threat eliminated.
