In February of this year, the US secretly coordinated with Russia its own draft UN resolution for the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine, trying to replace the 🇺🇦 version.

European countries blocked the initiative: France 🇫🇷 & the UK 🇬🇧 opposed the US in the General Assembly & the Security Council. As a result, the American resolution was adopted in a modified form.

The EU called this a “transatlantic split.”

At the time, in discussions with France and the UK, American diplomat Dorothy Shea called on Ukraine to withdraw its draft & support the American one. When asked what it provided for, Shea replied: “Peace, not war.”

In the end, the Ukrainian resolution was adopted, despite the opposition of the USA & Russia.

The US refused to include the French amendments, in particular on respect for territorial integrity. The US themselves abstained from voting on their own text.

Trump sent his envoy Keith Kellogg to Belarus to meet with Lukashenko, Russia's ally in its war against Ukraine.

Talks between Lukashenko and Kellogg lasted more than 6 hours.

Lukashenko made the decision to pardon 14 political prisoners, including Serhiy Tikhanovsky, at Trump's request, on "humane grounds" for "family reunification."

Trump's submission is such that he almost thanked Russia for what it is doing in Ukraine.

Trump sees talks with Putin as a tool to secure the Nobel Peace Prize. For Putin, they are a tool to victory.

The US President doesn't care about Ukraine, If he weren't prevented from doing so, he would make Putin his ally.

After more than 3 yrs of war, the Russian economy appears to have reached its limits.

But the main opponent of sanctions that could force Russia to yield appears to be Putin's closest ally, Donald Trump.
