/ I’m an Israeli historian recording the war crimes in Gaza since January 2024. Today I’m updating the chapter about the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza, quadrupling its size. For the full report, including evidence, testimonies and analysis:
witnessing-the-gaza-war.com

/ For earlier readers: the chapter’s new version (60+ pages) greatly expands, streamlines and organizes the content in the previous version. Below I highlight the structure of the current version, followed by the content.

/ Section 1⃣ examines what is currently known about the violent deaths of Palestinians. It covers the key numbers (at least 57K Palestinians killed and 134K injured), Israeli estimates of Hamas fighters killed and their problems, the ratio of non-combatant deaths (>67%),

/ the accuracy of the known numbers, the question of excess mortality and comparisons with many other conflicts over the past several decades. Section 2⃣ describes some of the international responses to the Gaza crisis.

/ Section 3⃣ examines the indiscriminate and disproportionate Israeli attacks. It zooms in to the policy underlying the bombing campaign as well as its extent and results over time. An additional subsection details some of the weapons used in these attacks.

/ Section 4⃣ examines the mortality and impacts on specific groups: children, journalists, healthcare workers as well as others.

/ Section 5⃣ looks at the rules of engagement as well as known massacres and examples. Section 6⃣ focuses on massacres that others have investigated more closely.

/ Section 7⃣ describes attacks on aid workers and aid seekers. Section 8⃣ includes dozens of testimonies by international health workers who volunteered in Gaza over the conflict.

/ Section 9⃣ expands on mass graves in Gaza and the many anonymous dead found there. The final section 🔟 describes Israeli public opinion and the lack of accountability for all of the above in Israeli society.

/ As usual, I’d be glad to receive comments, corrections and critique - here or at the website linked above. My work is driven by my sense of responsibility & commitment to facts, life and humanity.
