🚨BREAKING: Trump just launched America’s next Moonshot.
You thought it was just new U.S., Ukraine, & Greenland sources.
But now he’s taking on China in a $20 TRILLION race to mine the sea floor!
And if we win, we break the CCP’s grip on the entire green tech supply chain. 🧵
2/ China controls:
🔹 70% of cobalt
🔹 85% of rare earth processing
🔹 90% of EV battery supply chains
Now they’ve secured five contracts to mine the Pacific seafloor through a UN agency THEY bankroll.
3/ Trump’s not waiting.
He just signed an executive order unleashing American deep-sea mining and ordering Commerce, Defense, Interior & State to coordinate the effort.
Why? Because the ocean floor may hold the world’s largest untapped supply of critical minerals.
4/ What’s down there?
🔸 Polymetallic nodules with cobalt, nickel, copper, manganese
🔸 Sulfide vents with silver, zinc, gold
🔸 Crusts rich in rare earths
All sitting 3–6 km deep in U.S.-friendly zones — if we move fast enough to claim them.
5/ This isn’t sci-fi. U.S. firms like Impossible Metals & The Metals Company are already raising billions.
One of their claims:
✅ 15.5M tons of nickel
✅ 12.8M tons of copper
✅ 2M tons of cobalt
✅ 345M tons of manganese
All from ONE area of seafloor.
6/ Democrats claim it’s too expensive because they want to stop it.
But guess what?
China dominates in rare earth elements. They control 97% of global supply. And we need REEs for everything from F-35s to iPhones to Tesla batteries.
7/ Trump is not satisfied with just one source of supply. We have that now with China.
- Greenland is great
- Zaire is too
- Ukraine has a bunch
- America has lots (but needs refining)
But why stop there? And why be dependent on any one source?

8/ Meanwhile, China’s playing for keeps:
🌊 Pushing for dominance in the Clarion-Clipperton Zone
🛰️ Embedding surveillance tech on mining rigs
🤝 Cutting deals with mineral-poor countries to lock us out
They’re not just mining — they’re militarizing.
9/ Trump gets it: This is the new Great Game.
The next Cold War will be fought in supply chains, tech chips, and who controls space and the ocean floor.
The future of energy, defense, and innovation depends on who wins this race.
