The Washington Post's longtime "fact checker" Glenn Kessler is finally leaving.

Many of you know Kessler was merely a left-wing op-ed writer packaged as an "objective" voice. Here are some of his worst offenses over the years🧵

Kessler often ran interference for Democrat politicians by quibbling over semantics or putting words in the mouths of whoever he was "fact checking." Last year, Donald Trump said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was paying a "Newcomer Rental Subsidy" to the flood of migrants coming into the U.S. during the Biden administration, "funded by federal taxpayer dollars distributed by crooked Joe Biden."

Kessler did not dispute that Biden's administration was paying out federal grants to fund this state program. "This is a state program that has received federal grant money," he conceded, "but there is no indication that Biden is even aware of it."

Except Trump didn't say Biden was "aware" (who would describe Joe as "aware" of anything, at that point?). If you didn't realize you signed up for a Netflix subscription and you're paying $25 a month, whether you're "aware" doesn't make a difference; what matters is that the money is leaving your account every month.

In 2023, Kessler accused Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. of trying to "intimidate" when they posted a story about Juan Merchan, the judge in Trump's Manhattan criminal trial, having a daughter who worked with Kamala Harris's political campaign.

Kessler screencapped Trump's sons' posts and cropped out the story preview, deceptively claiming that the two men had deliberately posted a photo of consultant Loren Merchan for the nefarious purposes he perceived.

In February 2021, President Joe Biden falsely claimed during a live townhall event that coronavirus vaccines were unavailable before he took office.

Kessler dismissed the lie as “a verbal stumble, a typical Biden gaffe” and urged viewers to "cool the outrage."

During 2020's "Summer of Love," Kessler defended the far-left "Defund the Police" movement, writing: "It generally does not mean eliminating the police," and if the policy were enacted, he predicted "low-income communities would become stronger."

2019: After then-AG Bill Barr announced that the Mueller special counsel found no evidence of collusion between Donald Trump and Russia, Kessler KEPT HOPE ALIVE for the pee tape believers:

Also in 2019, Kessler "fact checked" a line from Trump's State of the Union Address that "1 in 3 women is sexually assaulted" while being smuggled across the U.S.-Mexico border. Kessler dinged Trump for saying "sexually assaulted" rather than "sexually abused," making hay out of the wording in a survey that POTUS was alluding to.

In 2017, Peter Schweizer eviscerated Kessler's attempt at damage control for Hillary Clinton's Uranium One scandal. Again, the "fact checker" quibbled with a statement that no one made -- that Clinton "gave away" 20% of the US’s uranium to Russia. Kessler completely omitted the fact that a businessman involved in the deal, approved by Sec of State Hillary, funneled millions into the Clinton Foundation.

2015 - Kessler took umbrage at GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina's statement: "It’s only in this country that you can go from being a secretary to chief executive of the largest tech company in the world, and run for president of the United States."

Reporters from the Post confirmed the details of Fiorina's secretary-to-CEO bio, yet Kessler awarded her Three Pinocchios, because reasons.

Like Uranium One, Kessler made a deceptive timeline of Hillary Clinton's statements on the deadly attack on U.S. personnel in Benghazi to protect her.

We wrote at the time: "Even though the Gowdy Select Committee uncovered three smoking gun documents that prove Hillary Clinton told the truth about the Benghazi terror attack in private, while lying to the Benghazi families and the American people, Kessler is desperate to shut this fact down and punish anyone who dares speak the truth...

Just prior to her 10:08 p.m. statement, where she falsely blamed the Benghazi terrorist attack on a YouTube video, Hillary Clinton was not only informed that an al Queda-affiliated group took responsibility for the attack, in private, that is what Hillary told others.

An hour after lying to the American people, again in private, Hillary told her family Benghazi was a terror attack. The next day, again in private, Hillary told the Egyptian Foreign Minister, 'We know that the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film.'”
