Germany’s Olaf Scholz called for EU “unity.”
Macron asked: “Are we ready to defend the interests of Europeans?”
On Sunday, France answered: No.
And that answer could shake the EU to its core.
3/ The deal opens long-closed Euro markets, & imposes a flat 15% tariff both directions.
It also commits Europe to:
🇺🇸 $750B in U.S. energy
🇺🇸 $600B in U.S. investments

4/ The backlash in France has been unified and furious.
🔻PM Bayrou: “A dark day.”
🔻Trade Minister: “Europe is not an economic power.”
🔻Le Pen: “Worse conditions than Brexit Britain. A fiasco.”
This isn’t fringe—it’s the French establishment.
5/ Macron has staked his political life on the EU.
He’s mocked Brexit, attacked Britain, and insisted France was “stronger inside the Union.”
But Trump’s deal gave Britain better terms than the entire EU.
Now Macron is silent. He has nothing to say.
6/ Marine Le Pen’s message is simple: This deal proves the EU is obsolete.
And the French agree.
📊 69% of French citizens have a negative opinion of the EU
📊 Le Pen’s party crushed Macron’s in the European elections
Even the Left and center-right are turning.
7/ Le Pen, Melenchon, and Retailleau now all back aggressive Euroskepticism.
Even if Frexit isn’t on the ballot, the mood has clearly shifted:
🇫🇷 France wants sovereignty.
🇫🇷 France wants control of its borders.
🇫🇷 France wants to make decisions in Paris, not Brussels.
8/ 15 years ago, the EU rivaled the U.S. economy.
Now it’s 2/3 our size, stagnating, directionless, and collapsing under its own weight.
Thank the crushing Brussels bureaucracy for that.
