My ancestors, the Acadians, were forced from their homes at gunpoint in the start of Le Grand Dérangement—the Great Upheaval. 💔
Villages burned. Families ripped apart. Fate scattered at sea. #AcadianHeritage 🧵👇🏼

🗺 August 10, 1755 – Governor Charles Lawrence issued the order: Every Acadian must be removed from Nova Scotia.
They refused to abandon their Catholic faith or pledge loyalty to the British Crown. Faith over fear. Freedom over chains. ✝️

Nearly 10,000 people were exiled across oceans—some to the American colonies, others to Britain, France, and the Caribbean.
Thousands perished to disease, starvation, or shipwreck. History tries to erase them, but we refuse to fade. 💔

Enter my 7th great-grandfather: Joseph “Beausoleil” Broussard—Acadian militiaman and legend. ⚔️
Captured after resisting injustice, imprisoned, but never broken. When freed, he refused retreat.
He led refugees on a fierce journey to freedom. #WarriorBlood

From Saint-Domingue → New Orleans (1765) → Governor granted land in the Attakapas region.
They landed on Bayou Teche between today’s Loreauville & St. Martinville.
This journey wasn’t just survival—it was soul reborn.

Today I live 30 minutes from where they landed.
Eight generations later, I’m raising my kids on the same soil armed with stories of courage.
Our music, food, and language—that’s blood, sweat, and survival. ❤️🌾

This land made us Cajuns—descendants of exiles turned fighters, survivors turned storytellers.
Our culture is a refusal to vanish.
Faith, family, and freedom carried us home. It always will.

We survived betrayal. We rebuilt. We thrived.
They tried to erase us, but truth doesn’t die.
We are proof a people steeped in faith and fire cannot be extinguished.

God bless our Acadian ancestors who never gave up! 🙏 And God bless the souls who didn’t make it. God bless Acadie. God bless Louisiana.
Bondié beni nouzôt ancêtres Acadiens, pis l’âme de ceux qu’on perdu. Vive l’Acadie, vive la Louisiane! ⚜️💔💪
