you know what? i don't care anymore. i don't have time to write an article and this crap with The Argument is pissing me off, so i'm gonna spill the tea:
Kelsey Piper of Vox co-wrote an epic eugenics fetish Dungeons & Dragons fanfic with AI theorist/cult leader Eliezer Yudkowsky
when i say "eugenics fetish", i mean it's an isekai in which the protagonist's IQ (i mean INT stat) is 4 standard deviations higher than the average of the local population. he then talks about how he needs to get paid for his smart sperm
HEREDITY OPTIMIZATION PROCESSES
for context: the full title of this work is "Mad Investor Chaos and the Woman of Asmodeus". it takes place across forum threads in which the writers use different accounts to post as different characters
the format is called "Glowfic", named after a Twilight fanfic
here's a good summary of the series and what glowfic is. it doesn't, however, mention all of the eugenics
i also can't emphasize enough how hard to read it is. Harry Potter and the Method of Rationality has nothing on it
recordcrash.substack.com/p/mad-investor…
one of the reasons it's taken so long to figure out how to write about this is because i wanna read the whole thing and it is just SO BAD
lintamande talking about "native-born INT 20" is Piper
here is Yudkowsky fantasizing about having sex with lots of girls to "bump up the average central intelligence factor by half a standard deviation"
more discussion of eugenics using D&D INT. "a 20 (INT person) can end up running the country"
"His utility function was inverted and He became a god of torture"
how do i know it's Kelsey? this Astral Codex Ten comment for a start
lintamande/Piper's insta is followed by a number of people in the Rationality/effective altruism communities
astralcodexten.com/p/in-partial-g…
source for the last image. maybe all the eugenics is why the name wasn't written down
i understand being discrete about the horny aspect. my issue is the eugenics, the co-writer, and the larger context of the Rationality/EA communities + AI + the press
lesswrong.com/posts/SA9hDeww…
it should be noted that The Argument is being funded by extremely wealthy effective altruists, just like the Future Perfect section of Vox is (where Kelsey Piper currently writes)
it should also be noted that famous Rationality community member Scott Alexander of Astral Codex Ten was also exposed for being into the race science/eugenics theory of "human biodiversity" around the time this fanfic was being written
Eliezer Yudkowsky's response to the above email being leaked was that "anybody who openly hates on this community or me is probably also a bad person that has no ethics"
he then told people not to share the info!
coincidentally, here's Kelsey Piper defending Scott Alexander and claiming he's not a racist earlier this year!
the story starts off with Yudkowsky's character reading "Three to Infinity" by "Petheriel" aka Zero to Infinity by Peter Thiel
fun fact: Peter Thiel also once funded Eliezer Yudkowsky's non-profit back when he founded LessWrong! check out that last name on the list too
i forgot to point out that Yudkowsky's self-insert character in this is a teenager. who is being horny for doing eugenics with other teenagers while being paid for his high IQ sperm in true libertarian fashion
this is not the first time Yudkowsky has been...weird regarding sex and writing
he wrote a sci fi story in which a wise rationalist explains to the characters how rape came to be legal in the Star Trek-esque universe. he called this story "pg-13"
polemics.md/that-time-elie…
Eliezer Yudkowsky also promoted another Rationality-adjacent sci-fi book on Reddit that is about a 6 year old cyborg with the body of a 13 year old who ends up in uncomfortable sexual scenarios
for some reason, he called it "basically Safe For Work"
polemics.md/that-time-elie…
i've seen critiques of this thread with some variation of "who cares?"
this is why. Eliezer Yudkowsky and Peter Thiel are a big part of why Google DeepMind and even OpenAI exist
now we have a journalist from the Rationalist community covering these labs
nytimes.com/2021/02/13/tec…
the part about Yudkowsky meeting Shane Legg in Peter Thiel's house is particularly relevant because, as i've discovered, Shane Legg cited a race scientist in his PhD thesis on theoretical AI

as for the "Rationalist thought experiment", many of y'all know that's referring to Roko's Basilisk
what many people don't know is that Roko himself has some pretty hot takes
takes like "Ted Kaczynsky had an insight". and transgender Great Replacement theory
other cool Roko ideas are "bypassing the objections of many existing women" to outbreed feminists (more weird eugenics type stuff) and colonizing icebergs for AI server farms
these are the types of people that Sam Altman is getting his Dyson Sphere theories from
