25 James Bond Movies Ranked From Worst to Best
I've crunched the numbers from 10 Bond Ranking Lists to create this order (EON Only). Don't shoot the messenger.

25. Die Another Day (2002)
Poor Pierce is in last place. Madonna, invisible cars, Tsunami surfing... oh dear.

24. Spectre (2015)
Daniel Craig's Bond was hit and miss. Mainly his villains lacked punch, and the biggest of them all... Blofeld, was the worst of the lot. Wants world domination because daddy preferred skiing with 007? Please. And Dave Bautista was literally thrown away.

23. The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
I have a soft spot for Roger Moore's Bond and it pains me to see one of his so low. Even though it features one of Bond's best villains, three nipped Christopher Lee, it also has a barrel roll car jump with a goddamn Swanee whistle.

22. The World is Not Enough (1999)
Why the hell is this so low? Brosnan was a bad-ass Bond here. And Sophie Marceau was excellent as Bond's ONLY female head villain to date. It's Denise Richards as a nuclear weapons expert, isn't it?

21. Moonraker (1979)
Rushed into production because Star Wars was massive, they threw everything at it. It has a beautiful John Barry score, Holly Goodhead is an awesome name, and adjusted for inflation Moonraker made over $1B. Indestructible Jaws was a bit silly though.

20. Quantum of Solace (2008)
Aside from a couple of great action sequences, Bond is once again let down by his villain. What does Dominic Greene want? Water... honestly? Who gives a shit? And why does he scream like a toddler when he gets hit? Craig was on great form though

Roger Moore tends to get a pass because his Bond is fun. But there's no getting around that he looks like Tanya Roberts' grandad. Christopher Walken and Grace Jones are great, Duran Duran's song is a classic and it was Roger's last go, so be kind

18. Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
George Lazenby didn't work out, so Sean Connery was back for a truck load of money. His Bond girl was Jill St. John, Lazenby's ex-girlfriend, which is a bit awkward. Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd, and Bambi and Thumper are worthwhile though

17. Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)
TND was the first Bond movie produced after Cubby Broccoli's death, and they went big. Jonathan Pryce was delightfully unhinged as Elliot Carver, Teri Hatcher was gorgeous, and Michelle Yeoh was great as the 'she's just as tough as Bond' girl.

16. Octopussy (1983)
Let's not talk about the Tarzan cry. This was Moore's fifth Bond outing and easily his most undervalued. Bond saving the world by defusing a nuclear warhead whilst dressed as a clown demands respect. Maud Adams was also great as the titular Octopussy.

15. No Time to Die (2025)
No Time to Die takes a long time to die... 163 minutes. Again with the Craig villains, having Bond die because he got scratched by Freddy Mercury is a bit poor. But the set-pieces are fantastic and Han Zimmer's bombastic Bond score is glorious.

14. You Only Live Twice (1967)
Connery was bored with Bond by this time and his, quite literally, turning Japanese is a crazy misstep. But the movie's worth it for production designer Ken Adam's mind-blowing volcano lair and Donald Pleasence's Blofeld is how it's done.

13. For Your Eyes Only (1981)
A bona fide Bond thriller, Moore was at his darkest as he helps Carole Bouquet seek revenge for the death of her father. It's almost an apology for the silliness of Moonraker. Fleming would've been happy with this one.

12. Licence to Kill (1989)
Timothy Dalton's second outing as Bond is the most violent entry in the entire Bond legacy, as he pulls a bit of a Yojimbo. We weren't quite ready for Dalton's Bond, Robert Davi is perfect, ignore Wayne Newton and focus on a young Benicio Del Toro

11. Live and Let Die (1973)
It's hard to imagine now the pressure Bond was under when they replaced Connery. Roger's first outing is a solid entry (Moore would be proud). Jane Seymour was beautiful, Paul McCartney's song gained an Oscar nod and Yaphet Kotto was great.

10. The Living Daylights (1987)
Some people say Dalton wasn't any fun. He slides down a mountain on a cello for god's sake. This is a great cold war thriller with one of the most beautiful Bond girls, Maryam d'Abo. Unlike the Moore era, Dalton's Bond gets better with age.

9. Dr. No (1962)
It's a testament to Bond and Connery that his first adventure sits inside the Top 10. The Bond blueprint holds up remarkably well for a movie that's over 60 years old and Ursula Andress is still the gold standard.

8. Thunderball (1965)
This cost more than the previous three movies combined. It's beautiful to look at and the set-pieces are spectacular, especially the underwater scenes. Connery shines as Bond and whoever had the idea to have Claudine Auger continually wet, thank you.

7. GoldenEye (1995)
GoldenEye deconstructed Bond for a modern audience, and got it right. First step was giving him a female M. Judi Dench knocked it out of the park so far that future Bond plots would revolve around her. 'I think you're a sexist, misogynist dinosaur.'

6. Skyfall (2012)
The weird thing about the Craig era is how fast it is. In Casino Royale he was wasn't allowed the Bond theme because he wasn't Bond yet. Fast forward 6 years and he's already an aging agent back for one last hoorah. Roger Deakins is the star of this show

5. The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Everything works in this Bond. Jaws, Agent XXX, Carly Simon's best song about Bond, and Roger wears 007 like a second skin. It's the most fun Bond has ever had and is likely to have, and should be celebrated.

4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969)
George Lazenby's only 007 outing is one of the best. Diana Rigg is stunning, and her storyline is an essential part of what makes Bond... Bond. There's nothing else quite like OHMSS in the Bond canon.

3. Casino Royale (2006)
If ever there were a metaphor for Craig's Bond, it's the image of him running through a wall. His approach to the character was a game-changer and unlike anything we'd seen before. Royale might just be the perfect Bond movie.

2. From Russia With Love (1963)
One of the best cold war movies made during the cold war. Connery's second outing is better than Dr. No in every conceivable way. Robert Shaw is nothing less than terrifying and Daniela Bianchi was stunning.

1. Goldfinger (1964)
From the moment Connery takes off his wetsuit to reveal a perfect tuxedo, until the final credits this is gold standard Bond. Pussy Galore, the DB-5, 'No Mr Bond, I expect you to die', Shirley Bassey, Bond's best suit. Goldfinger cemented the 007 formula.
