🎬Following unverified reports of the death of Saleh Aljafarawi, known as Mr. FAFO, this thread will revisit some moments from the time we’ve known him.
True or not, his presence will be remembered. 🕯️🎬

Mr. FAFO became widely known after the hospital scene that Palestinians claimed was attacked. The scene drew significant attention due to the evident signs of staging it displayed.

The scene appeared to many as if it had been filmed twice - once by Mr. FAFO and once by a friend of his.

Here, Mr. FAFO celebrates his 10,000th staged scene.
May his memory be blessed.

In this scene, outside Al-Aqsa Hospital — if memory serves — Mr. FAFO was caught on a security camera demonstrating to his Hamas journalist friends how to use small fake explosives for especially dramatic scenes.
His absence will be deeply felt. :(

Mr. FAFO was part of this BBC documentary.
It led to a deeper investigation that joined the @mishtal case - the one that ultimately brought the film down and forced a BBC apology.
@mishtal 7/
It later turned out that Mr.FAFO took part in some scenes coincidentally with BBC crews as the fire erupted, arriving just as people had waited inside the flames for minutes.
Sounds absurd, but according to the BBC & UN that’s exactly what happened.

Not many know this, but Mr. FAFO was a singer - yes, really.
Maybe not quite our style, but he was considered one.
Here he stands before a ruined stadium, expressing his dream to one day sing before his fans.
May his memory be soooo blessed😭

A rare photo of Mr. FAFO from when we thought he was unbeatable.
At first, we believed he had nine lives like a cat - but after dying many more times, we realized he was more like Agent Smith.
Turns out, even Smith - or Mr. FAFO - can be defeated. :(
@mishtal 10/
Meanwhile - sadly for his fans - reports of Mr. FAFO’s death have been confirmed as true.
May his memory be blessed, inshallah… truly this time.
🕯️

Continuing this tragic thread: not long ago, Mr. FAFO looked smug on a show, claiming the IDF was trying to kill him.
Frankly, they did everything not to - even Netflix never made generals laugh like he did.
😭🕯️

Few know this, but Mr. FAFO had a cat named Leo, whom he loved deeply.
Like a few other “miraculous” figures in Gaza, Leo was quite well-fed and well-groomed.
Here are some recent clips of Mr. FAFO with his mourning cat, Leo.
🕯️😿

Naturally, as a journalist affiliated with Hamas, Mr. FAFO enjoyed certain privileges during the war.
Despite his reports of food shortages, he was occasionally seen dining at restaurants - purely by coincidence, of course.

Like a classic Gazan journalist, Mr. FAFO loved contradicting himself - at times describing Gaza as an “open-air prison,” and at others posting nostalgic tributes to the “good old days” before October 7, when Gaza looked more like Dubai.
@mishtal @imshin 15/
Here are a few photos from the days when Mr. FAFO was just a small, innocent, and adorable child — and a devoted Hamas lover.
@mishtal @imshin 16/
A few more - he’s really adorable.
@mishtal @imshin 17/
One of Mr. FAFO’s most iconic moments was when he cheered after the October 7 massacre.
Even more iconic was seeing him cry in sheer terror just days later, when Israel began to respond.
We’re going to miss this guy.

Our deepest thanks for the gift called Mr. FAFO go to @NiohBerg.
She was the first to see the talent, the potential in this unpolished gem - and gave him his name: Mr. FAFO.
Thank you, Nioh.
Your creation will be deeply missed..😢

While Gazans were said to be starving, Mr. FAFO threw a birthday party - with men playfully smearing chocolate on each other.
An odd choice amid famine claims, but the message was clear:
to show the Israeli enemy they would not be broken!💪🇵🇸
@mishtal @imshin @NiohBerg 20/
Surprisingly, unlike many of his Hamas-linked journalist friends who gained weight during the famine, Mr. FAFO stayed fit, a skilled ping-pong player with dreams of going pro one day.
I’m sure he’s playing in paradise now, facing 70 opponents, all virgins. :(
@mishtal @imshin @NiohBerg 21/
Gazans claimed that Mr. FAFO deceived the public to obtain donations and stole them.
In one evening, he raised $10 million for a children’s hospital - but the money vanished, and the promised hospital was never built, according to Gazan sources.
@mishtal @imshin @NiohBerg 22/
We could talk about Mr. FAFO forever.
He filmed many scenes, likely directing some himself.
Here’s his last:
celebrating Gaza’s “victory” with thousands fresh from the “g*cide,” well-groomed and round-bellied.
May his memory be blessed, inshallah🙏
