8 years ago, I found out about Bitcoin.
I got so obsessed I quit my $80k+ job and put my entire life savings into it.
It was the riskiest, but best financial decision I ever made.
But if I had to do it all over again from ZERO in 2025, here’s exactly how I’d do it. 🧵
First move: inventory your current assets.
Everything.
Bitcoin has appreciate by +40% annually over the last 10 years.
If it doesn’t yield more or spark priceless joy, it’s dead weight.
The average American hasn’t worn 82% of their clothes in 2+ years. Start there.
Sell the junk! The collectibles... the stuff you swore would “go up in value.”
It didn’t outperform Bitcoin, and it probably won't over the next 20 years.
Flip it, buy sats, feel lighter. Or donate it!
Every unused object is basically a hostage from your pre-Bitcoin era.
Step two: force your spending habits to earn your BTC.
Get a bitcoin‐cashback card if you have one in your country, enable “round-up to nearest dollar” in BTC if offered.
Set to autopilot.
You buy things... right?
Might as well make the habit feed your Bitcoin stack.
Step 3: Whatever you don’t put into Bitcoin, invest in your most unique, POWERFUL skill.
The thing AI can’t replace.
The thing people will pay STUPID money to learn from you about.
That’s your personal money printer.
Reflect on it, hone it, put it to work.
Step 4: Get your Bitcoin off exchanges.
I learned this the hard way.
l lost 3+ BTC when QuadrigaCX imploded.
Nearly half a million dollars today.
At least they interviewed me on TV for it... when I was 30+ lbs overweight and clinically depressed.
Get a hardware cold wallet.
Not tomorrow... NOW.
My favorite? The Blockstream Jade. Lots of hardware wallets have terrible UX, and secure elements made in China w/ backdoors.

Step 5: when you're done not trusting + verifying... START building your trusted circle. Get Bitcoin friends.
I spent my first 4 years stacking ALONE. It was isolating as hell. Don’t do this journey solo.
Join a local meetup group, or start one.

Step 6: Earn AND Spend your bitcoin.
Yes... I know this one might sound counter-intuitive. But if you aren't spending Bitcoin occasionally, it means you're not actually 100% all-in.

Total financial surveillance.
If you plan to stay in your town/city long term, onboard and spend at a coffee shop, barber, or butcher.
You’ll thank yourself when “cashless society” stops being a buzzword.
Step 7: Protect your legacy.
Some bitcoin should be unseizable, uncensorable (KYC-Free), and inheritable.
For inheritance, I use Casa.
They build multisig vaults and inheritance tools that split access among family or time-lock it.

Step 9, and the final one: Be ready to lose everything.
Not via the price swings, but by how society views you.
Friends will think you’ve joined a cult.

This choice to align yourself with Bitcoin will cost you short-term comfort, but buy you long-term freedom.
