My 4-month love story with my first electric car, @Mahindra_Auto XEV 9E was nothing short of perfect, 500+ km range, smooth drive, great tech, everything.
Until November 6th.
That’s the day my dream EV experience turned into a complete nightmare. 🧵
Heading to office in the morning, and suddenly the car just dies barely 10 feet from my parking.
🚨 “Critical Fault Detected. Stop the vehicle and contact Mahindra dealer.” 🚨
And just like that, I was stranded, right in the middle of the road.
When I say stranded, I mean completely stranded.
Steering locked. Brakes locked. Nothing worked.
The 2-ton machine just froze.
It took 7 people to physically push it to the side of the road.
Called @Mahindra_Auto SOS immediately. Waited for what felt like forever before someone answered.
They promised a Roadside Assistance callback.
30 minutes later? Still nothing.
Finally, had to call my team from office to help manage the situation.
An hour later, out of nowhere, the car just started working again. Like nothing ever happened.
Still, I sent it to the dealer the next day.
Their response?
“Sir, we don’t have anyone available to diagnose this issue right now.”
Had to take the same (still faulty) car back home.
Three days later, it happened AGAIN.
This time right outside my office, 50 meters from the parking.
Same error: 🚨 “Critical Fault Detected.” 🚨
Waited an hour. Nothing. The car was completely dead again.
A @Mahindra_Auto technician came, reset it, and asked me to bring it in.
The very next day i.e November 7th, it failed again, just 2 minutes after starting.
This time, they sent a team, connected it to a laptop, and towed it to the service center.
It’s now been 3 days since the car’s been at the service center.
Every day, the same update:
“Sir, we’re still diagnosing the issue.”
No clarity. No car. No timeline.
Look, @anandmahindra @MahindraRise, the XEV 9E is a brilliant EV when it works.
But this entire experience has shaken my confidence.
With ICE cars, you at least know what’s wrong.
With EVs like this? You’re completely helpless. It’s just a black box.
