The government just launched new guidelines to replace the old food pyramid.
Are they any good?
Let’s find out:
First, they’re leading with data.
1 out of 2 people have diabetes or pre-diabetes.
Next, 3 out of 4 people have at least one chronic condition.
Then there’s the spending that goes to treat these problems:
At last, and I have to say I was skeptical…
But it looks like Big Food is not nearly as influential on the MAHA folks now running this part of the government…
Because what they’re suggesting to focus on is, well, real food.
One of the implications in all of this is that we may finally be getting away from the vilification of saturated fat.
I say this because steak is one of the foods they individually call out.
