It’s anti-democratic and emotionally manipulative, and we’re all f*cking tired of it.
🧵 2/ You can argue that the ICE agents fumbled the situation- and that’s fair- but ultimately what happened to Pretti is a direct result of the chaos they orchestrated.
🧵 3/ They don’t fight ICE legislatively because they know they won’t win.
So, instead, they create chaos in the streets and wait until a government agent eventually kills someone, and then they make that individual a martyr to rally more support or force the government to stop.
🧵4/ We have heard endlessly about the 1/6 “insurrection” and watched as everyone that attended had their lives destroyed.
That was one day.
These protests and riots have gone on for months since Trump entered office, yet there will be no real accountability.
🧵 5/ The only way this ends- the way it must end- is for the rebellion to be quelled.
Otherwise they will never stop. If the government retreats from this, the lesson will be that the Law can always be subverted through angry mobs.
And once that happens, the Republic is dead.
