Texas Republicans suffered a humiliating defeat in a senate race yesterday. SD9 has been a rock-solid RED district for years. It flipped 30 points yesterday - giving Democrats a huge win. Conservatives are calling it a political earthquake.
Tarrant County is the biggest red county in the nation. Democrat Taylor Rehmet beats Republican Leigh Wambsganss in a district that Trump carried in 2024 by 17 points. The district hasn’t voted Democratic in half a century.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick blamed low turnout for a special election.
"The results from SD 9 are a wake-up call for Republicans across Texas," he said. "Our voters cannot take anything for granted."
Yet another canary in the coal mine. Virginia completely flipped Democrat
because Republican voters stayed home. Republicans have lost a number of special elections over the past year because voters are not voting.
Unless Republican voters wake up - the midterms will be a complete disaster. So, why aren't Republican voters voting?
