1/ The record shows that state leadership had yrs of warnings, multiple investigations, & hundreds of survivor reports about abuse in all kinds of youth facilities. Responses were delayed, limited, or silent at key moments. Some may not like it, but accountability applies to ALL.
2/ These documented facts about how the State of Illinois/Gov. JB Pritzker & admin, handled abuse allegations in youth facilities/foster centers. It's not about party.
I'd like to say the fact that his cousin is in the Epstein files is a coincidence, but I don't believe in them.
3/ A state‑funded center promoted by the governor’s admin as a “model” for vulnerable foster youth was later shut down after reports of sexual assaults by staff, sex trafficking of minors, thousands of violent incidents, & years of failed oversight.
(All publicly reported.)
4/ Staff hired to protect children included individuals with felony convictions. Investigations also documented guards sleeping on the job, sharing pornographic videos at work, & ignoring complaints of sexualized comments toward kids.
(From investigative reporting.)
5/ After the closure, a DCFS veteran allegedly tried to persuade staff to backdate records during an investigation. Officials first denied wrongdoing, then blamed a “rogue employee.”
(From inspector general reporting.)
6/ Despite the allegations, the state continued contracting with the same security company involved, paying millions more after the facility closed.
(From state comptroller records.)
7/ Child welfare advocates (including the ACLU of Illinois & the Cook County Public Guardian) publicly called for answers, transparency, & independent oversight. Their statement:
“The children and the public deserve answers.”
8/ The public record shows failures across multiple levels of oversight within the governor's admin. People may not like it, but accountability applies to everyone.
This isn't about party or politics, it's about holding people accountable. It's how it should be.
