🧵 “Ghost Stories”: Jon McGreevy's Allegations Re: Rod Rosenstein & Domestic Spying
Startling allegations about former Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein and a covert intelligence operation that allegedly shifted from foreign surveillance to domestic corruption. /1 archive.org/details/jon-mc…
The whistleblower clip (Jan 9, 2021) describes “Operation Ghost Stories,” originally a successful FBI operation aimed at surveilling Russian assets within the United States. /2
According to McGreevy (who worked undercover as “Ryan Dark White”), although the Obama administration officially ordered the operation canceled during the “Russian Reset,” it actually continued under Rosenstein. /3
"It was Obama and Biden who did the Russian Reset, along with Secretary Clinton, and they didn’t want any problems with the Russians so they told them to cancel it. Well, they didn’t. They kept their communication open with them, it just changed.” - McGreevy on RR /4
McGreevy alleged that the operation’s nature changed from pure surveillance to a “pay-for-play” intelligence exchange. Instead of just providing information to the Russians, the group began providing them with altered information, “working them from the other side.” /5
The Russians allegedly offered $$$ to Rosenstein, said McGreevy, but Rosenstein refused & was “hyper-pissed” when he discovered Bridges was taking money independently, leading to Bridges’ imprisonment—which McGreevy called a way to keep him quiet about the secret operation. /6
McGreevy also linked the operation to Shaun Bridges, a former Secret Service agent. Bridges was officially prosecuted for stealing Bitcoin during the Silk Road investigation. /7
Silk Road was a “multi-agency group investigating illegal activity on the Silk Road, a covert online marketplace for illicit goods, including drugs” (U.S. Department of Justice press release, November 7, 2017, ) /8justice.gov/archives/opa/p…
However, McGreevy claimed Bridges was actually in trouble for laundering money he was paid from the Russian intelligence exchange, an action that could have bounced back onto Rosenstein, who was angling for higher political office. /9
“Well, Shaun Bridges was actually taking the money they were offering — he was laundering it through bitcoin around the world — and Rod was hyper-pissed when he found out. It’s one of the reasons he went after Shaun and put him in jail. He’s still there." (Released 2021) /10
"And so the deal was ‘You get six years, keep your mouth shut or we’ll go after you for everything and get 40.'" /11
These allegations might be less then credible except that McGreevy (1968-2023) did work for Rosenstein during the latter’s tenure as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland. /12
“White’s” status as a Confidential Human Source was verified by a 2015 Motion to Seal signed by Rosenstein himself, stating he was “assisting law enforcement in an unrelated investigation.” (Known on socials as JohnHereToHelp; he has an earlier X account called “RodIsGuilty.”)/13
McGreevy, as “White,” said Rosenstein’s “Dirty Tricks Squad” targeted the @SharylAttkisson who wrote: “White had admitted to being part of one of the gov surveillance operationss against me. He provided us some details, some of which we were able to verify, & then disappeared"/14
"….White said the rogue group he worked w under then-US Attorney Rod Rosenstein spied on ‘hundreds’ of US citizens. I just happened to have sources who helped me prove it, in part by unearthing unique government IP addresses in my computer used as part of the surveillance."/15
"White said the group included then-Secret Service agent, Shaun Bridges, who was later convicted and sent to prison in a separate government corruption case.” (Attkisson, Nov. 27, 2023, ) /16sharylattkisson.com/2023/11/the-un…
Sharyl Attkisson is widely credited with breaking the Operation Fast and Furious scandal to a national audience through her investigative reporting for CBS News. Her coverage, which earned her an Emmy Award, was the first to feature ATF whistleblowers like John Dodson. /17
Dodson revealed that under Obama, the ATF purposely let firearms purchased in the USA to “walk” into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. Scandal gained national infamy after guns from F&F were recovered following the Dec 2010 murder of U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. /18
Attkisson has long maintained that her computers were compromised with “planted material” placed there by individuals using government IP addresses. The OIG’s forensic examination did find signs of unauthorized interaction on one of the laptops. /19
However, the report stated this did not necessarily prove a “remote intrusion.”
If her computer was intentionally compromised by Rosenstein, this would be evidence of the Obama administration carrying out political reprisal against her & McGreevy's credibility.
/20
McGreevy anon acct on x: “One of the DOJ computer experts I know personally, their specialty was hacking, altering, and planting evidence on computers." /21
"For example, someone with assets they wanted to seize suddenly c– p– is found on their drive. Assets seized, they plead guilty to less charge.”
/22
McGreevy’s death in 2023 is highly suspicious at best. His words remain with us and can be investigated.
This case serves as a powerful reminder of the complexities surrounding government overreach and the protection of whistleblowers.
