I built this as a side for personal use. But, it turned out to be so much more and so much better than I ever hoped, I am releasing it as a product for everyone.

It's called Situation Deck (SitDeck) and it's a free OSINT dashboard with 180+ live data sources. It puts the entire world and almost everything happening in it on one screen.

Here's what it is, why it exists, and why/how I'm giving it away for free.

That map above has every single layer turned on. It's chaos on purpose. That's the problem. SitDeck is the solution.

Here's the same map with just the stuff I filtered on it.

There are:
70+ map layers you can turn on and off.
12 different map styles including a 3D globe.
50+ data widgets.

All real time, all filterable and configurable.

Your interests. Your view. Your rules. Your situation. Your way.

SitDeck is a truly free, real-time OSINT dashboard that pulls from primary, OSINT and official sources around the world. It makes it all easy to see everything that's happening in one place.

Earthquakes. Wars. Markets. Flights. Cyber threats. Nukes. Weather. Elections. Airstrikes. Ships. Launches.

All of it on your screen.

Why does this need to exist?

Because the world is getting crazier and the news is getting worse.

Old media is slow. New media is biased. Social media is chaos. Everyone has an angle and an agenda. Truth is impossible to find.

... but, if you look, there's actually a ton of raw data out there from good sources like USGS, NOAA, NASA, CISA, the UN, and hundreds of others. The 'underlying data' of the world, so to speak. No spin or bullshit. Just real data.

The problem is it's scattered across hundreds of websites and APIs. It's hard to find, hard to use, and even harder to understand.

SitDeck fixes that. It automatically pulls it all in, cleans it up, and puts it in front of your face.

Quick background.

When I founded @TrendSpider, I wanted to bring advanced trading and market analytics that you could only get from institutional platforms to everyone.

TrendSpider has grown over the last 8 years. The platform is now serving tens of thousands of active traders. I've been building complex software products for 20+ years.

I'm also an OSINT nerd. Have been since the Russia/Ukraine war started.

I tried every open source intelligence dashboard I could find. They all sucked. Clunky setups. Limited data. Half of them break after a week. API keys that I had to find and connect.

The hassle was never worth it. It was easier to do it the hard way. That sucks.

SitDeck is a passion project, but a very serious one.

It's real SaaS. No setup. No servers. No API keys. Just open your browser and go.

The "free" part is philisophical and simple:

If the data is free, it's free on SitDeck. If I built it efficiently with a proper data ingestion system, it would be relatively cheap to operate.

That's the first big decision about commercializing this. SitDeck will never charge for free data. If it's open data, it's free to users.

We also include some expensive stuff for free (with some limits) like AI-powered analysis and chat, daily AI briefings, and custom AI situation reports.

We pay for the tokens out of our own pocket. Because everyone should have access to real info. The world needs this.

Down the road we'll definately monetize it by adding paid plans for power users who want more AI features, more alerts, and premium data feeds (the kind we have to pay big $$ for). But for everyone else, it won't cost a dime.

That's how SitDeck will stay free.

The idea is a community tool that pays its own bills and thus will be around for a long time.

In SitDeck, you build Decks. Decks are like customized dashboards. We built 14 ready-to-go ones, but you can obviously build your own, too:

🎯 Command Center
⚔️ War & Conflict
☢️ Nuclear & WMD
🛩️ Aviation & Space
🚢 Maritime & Trade
💰 Markets & Finance
🌍 Environment & Climate
🔒 Cyber & Technology
🏥 Health & Biosecurity
📺 Live TV & Media
🗳️ Elections & Politics
⚖️ Legal & Regulatory
👥 Demographics & Society
⚡ Energy & Resources
🔍 OSINT & Social

The live World and Country maps track everything in real time. That includes military and aviation activity, earthquakes, and much more.

Right now, with US and Israeli strikes on Iran underway, I am obsessed with the military stuff:

Carrier group positions. Airstrikes. Military aircraft over the Middle East. Flight restrictions going up in real time.

But you can do more. You can track disease outbreaks. You can watch subsea cables. You can monitor Starlink sats. All kinds of stuff.

SitDeck tracks what's above your head and under the ocean.

Undersea cables - the backbone of the global internet. Where they run and where they're vulnerable.

Live satellite positions and ISS location.

GPS constellation status. Space weather alerts. Upcoming launches. Missile tests. Protests and unrest.

We display it on a bunch of different maps, including a really cool spinning 3D one with night-Earth lighting. Data points overlaid. It spins. You can pause it and move it yourself.

Because monitoring the situation should look as cool as it feels.

There are also 55+ widgets you can drag, drop, and resize.

A few of my favorites are:

OSINT Social Media: curated posts from popular X OSINT accounts (from the official API, which we pay for so you don't have to)

Carrier Group Tracker: where are the US Navy strike groups right now (updated from both official and OSINT sources)

Earthquake Tracker: every quake worldwide, updated every 5 minutes

Fires: measured by NASA, printed on your map.

Conflicts: active wars and armed conflicts globally

Every widget pulls live data. No refreshing needed.

SitDeck has a built-in AI analyst powered by Claude (more models to come).

Ask it anything in plain English. It has access to all 180+ data sources in real time.

"Are there any earthquakes near active nuclear reactors right now?"

"Summarize military activity in the South China Sea this week."

"What sanctions were added against Iran today?"

It answers with sources. It cross-references across feeds. It thinks like a CIA analyst.

Free accounts get 5 AI queries every month. Tokens are not cheap, but we pay for them so you don't have to. Paid plans will have much more.

The UX jitters in the video will be fixed... IT'S BETA, guys :-)

Every morning, SitDeck generates an AI intelligence briefing for you and emails it to you (you can turn that off, if you want.)

It scans all data sources and gives you a summary.

Like having a morning brief from your own intelligence team. Automatic. Free. Without news media spin or social influencer agenda.

Want to go deeper?

Situation Reports are custom AI reports you can schedule to run when you want them. The AI scans, drills down, and builds a structured report with analysis.

Free accounts get a couple of those too.

You can also set up alerts on specific data or mixed data, for keywords or for new data. No code or work.

SitDeck watches for it and notifies you. From the cloud.

Because SitDeck stores historical data and temporal mapping, alerts are always fresh.

Set it and forget it.

And much, much more. I think you get the idea :)

Before you try it, just one important note:

SitDeck is in beta right now. Very much beta. Might be alpha. I don't know. My point is: things will break. Stuff will change. You might find bugs (if you do, tell us!)

Meanwhile, we're actively adding hundreds more data sources over the coming weeks and months. Each of them is a PIA to connect and normalize, so there might be new bugs in those.

So please be forgiving. It's free, after all!

That's it. No more posts. End of thread.

Now, go try it. It's free. Takes 30 seconds.

Monitor the situation. Your way. In style.

If you find a bug or something that's broken, please tattle on it. And if you think something is missing, something sucks, or love something, tell us.

Hit up @sitdeck or visit sitdeck.com/contact.

This is built for the community and we want the community to help shape it.

If it's useful for you, or if you just think its cool - please follow @SitDeck, share the OP above, and/or just post a screenshot of your personal Deck. Tag us. If I see it, I'll repost it!

And if you love it, please consider buying a paid plan once we roll them out in a few weeks. It will help support the project and will give you more AI features, more alerts, and eventually, premium paid data feeds that cost me real money to have.

If you made it this far, thank you for reading and hope you try it and like it!
