It’s not just costumes and parties.
It’s the story of a Persian regime that tried to wipe out the Jewish people.

2,400 years ago, the Jewish people were living under the Persian Empire.
They had no army.
No state.
No power.
Just survival.

A powerful official named Haman got angry at one Jew, Mordechai, for refusing to bow to him.
Instead of targeting one man…
He decided to eliminate all Jews in the empire.
Men. Women. Children.

The king approved it.
A government-signed order of extermination.
Legal. Official. Final.
That’s the setting of the Book of Esther.

At the same time, a young Jewish woman named Esther had become queen.
But no one knew she was Jewish.
She was inside the palace.
Inside the system.

Mordechai sends her a message:
Maybe you’re in this position for this exact moment.
In other words:
This is your test.

Esther risks her life by approaching the king without permission.
One wrong move, and she dies.
But she moves carefully. Strategically.
She doesn’t panic.

Long story short:
The plot is exposed.
Haman is executed.
The Jews are allowed to defend themselves.
And what was supposed to be a massacre…
Becomes a victory.

Here’s why this matters today:
Ancient Persia tried to destroy the Jews.
Modern Iran, the successor of Persia, openly calls for Israel’s destruction.
History echoes.

The difference?
Back then, Jews were powerless.
Today, there is a Jewish state.
An army.
Missile defense.
Intelligence.
Never again means something.

Purim teaches three simple things:
1. Evil often hides behind laws and politics.
2. Courage from one person can change history.
3. Jews survive when they stand together and defend themselves.

It’s a reminder:
We’ve faced this before.
