Apple wants you to think your iPhone battery is dying so you'll upgrade.

But 90% of the time it's just 7 settings draining power in the background.

I fixed my brother's battery yesterday.

Went from dying at 2pm → lasting until midnight.

Here's the exact settings I changed:

1/ Find the real battery killers

Go to Settings → Battery.

Check:
– which apps use the most battery
– “Background Activity” under app names

If apps like Instagram, YouTube, Maps show high background activity,
they are draining battery even when you don’t use them.

2/ Turn off useless Background App Refresh

Go to Settings → General → Background App Refresh.

Set it to Off (or Wi-Fi only).

Then turn OFF refresh for:
– social media apps
– shopping apps
– apps you rarely open

They do not need to run all day.

3/ Fix Location Services (big hidden drain)

Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
For most apps:

– change Always → While Using the App
– change While Using → Never if not needed

Fix this especially for:

– social media
– food delivery
– ride apps
– random editing apps

Location running in the background kills battery.

4/ Kill unnecessary notifications

Every notification turns on your screen and processor.
Go to Settings → Notifications.

Turn OFF notifications for:

– shopping apps
– games
– promo apps
– noisy news apps

Keep only what you really need.

5/ Use Low Power Mode earlier

Go to Settings → Battery → Low Power Mode → ON.

Add it to Control Center.
Use it when:
– you leave home for long hours
– you travel

It reduces background work and saves a lot of battery

6/ Fix screen settings (huge drain)

Go to Settings → Display & Brightness.

Do this:
– turn OFF Always-On Display (if available)
– turn OFF Raise to Wake (optional)
– set Auto-Lock to 30 sec or 1 min
– avoid full brightness unless outside

Screen = biggest battery user.

7/ Charge smarter to protect battery health

Battery health matters more than one day of use.

Rules:
– don’t keep phone at 100% for hours
– don’t let it hit 0% every day
– best range: 20%–80%

Turn ON:
Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging → Optimized Battery Charging

Your phone learns your routine and protects the battery.
