German Foreign Secretary, March 8, 1918:

"It should always be firmly remembered that all efforts aimed at uniting Russia and restoring the monarchy in it are detrimental to our interests. Conservative politics are not an export commodity."

I'll also add another interesting text, but it's very long, so I'll post it in parts.

"Bernard Shaw, 1933, lecture in the USA.
The Political Madhouse in America and Nearer Home. A Lecture."

In our youth, we were all deathly afraid of Russia. We talked about Peter the Great's will. Mr. Rudyard Kipling became famous as a patriotic poet, exposing the great White Bear, a power that intended to take India into its clutches as a prelude to taking over the world

I ask these maliciously stupid, short-sighted gentlemen who write in American newspapers, denouncing Russia, spreading all sorts of ridiculous lies about it,

pretending that Russian communism has failed and the people are starving, what do they think they are doing? Do they want to bring back tsarism?

Whether they have a tsar or not, do they want to establish a Russian capitalist regime to compete with our capitalists for our markets? Do they want to dig the White Bear out of its communist grave and revive it with tenfold claws? What would be the result if they succeeded?

Suppose you swept away Mr. Stalin, as the monarchical allies swept away Napoleon in 1815, and replaced him with a dynastic Grand Duke and a government of old-fashioned diplomats working with old-fashioned financiers,

under the yoke of old-fashioned capitalists fighting for new markets with the invincible Red Army created by Trotsky!

What would you have to do next? You would have to quadruple your fleet. You will probably have to tenfold your air force. You will not be able to sleep in peace for fear of the White Bear. Fortunately,

Providence, who is favorable to America, has made Russia a communist state; and as long as this is the case, you have nothing to fear from it.

You should only be concerned with what will happen in China; and I sincerely hope, for your good, that China will settle its scattered affairs by developing its present core of communism throughout its territory, so that China and Russia will become communist powers.

Then every American will be able to sit under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one will be able to frighten him.

If you can't appreciate American communism, at least learn to appreciate the benefits that America has from other countries being communist.

Think about the United States, where not only is Japan capitalist, but Russia is capitalist, and China is capitalist! You're shivering, of course.
