It claimed those synodal reports "can illuminate the discernment underway and help situate it within a broader horizon."

This month, Synod Study Group 9 released a widely criticized report on ‘doctrinal and pastoral issues’ falsely suggesting that homosexual activity is not sinful.

The report highlighted testimony from ‘married’ homosexual men who are friends with LGBT activist Fr. James Martin.

It promoted the idea that "sin, at its root, does not consist in the (same-sex) couple relationship, but in a lack of faith in a God who desires our fulfillment."

It also asked if homosexual ‘relationships’ can be thought of as equal ‘to heterosexual conjugal union,’ leaving the question open.

Cardinal Willem Eijk called the report a ‘radical departure from Catholic moral theology’ that ‘must be forcefully refuted.’

Cardinal Gerhard Müller also condemned it and ‘the heretical relativization of natural and sacramental marriage.’
