Not too big a fan of this cover page but I do like how detailed Hidari's frame always is. There is a clear attention to detail on Ikemoto's part that I always appreciate with his drawings of musculature. (Thread)

#Boruto

The chapter starts with Jura reflecting on Mamushi's existence. He echoes what most of the fandom thought of the bug by explaining his animalistic (frankly, boring) existence. It's by design and that's cool, cuz what he represented worked within the context of the arc.

He poses a question to Hidari, who in turn reflects on why he was given preferential treatment by Jura in light of the recent Shinju deaths. This prompts Jura to, for the first time, show signs of harboring love for something/one other than knowledge

Oddly enough, he seems more expressive as well, even more so than when he's fighting ~ something he genuinely enjoys. Even more odd is that Hidari reciprocates, which makes Jura grin in excitement lol

Ada is watching using her Senrigan and she's just as surprised as the rest of us I imagine. What's interesting for me is the fatal flaw of humanity Jura discusses with Boruto earlier is manifesting within himself & Hidari, Boruto also defs would've never seen this coming

It's interesting cuz what Jura rejects, he gains & what Boruto accepts to be true, isn't. It challenges their dynamic, sowing seeds for a potential spin on things. It also reminds me of Kawaki and Naruto's relationship. Could Jura come to understand Kawaki because of this?

Moving on, we see Sarada get a new pair of glasses. Sakura did say that her prescription was off, so I guess an adjusted one would technically better match her deteriorating eyesight. It's only a stopgap though, so I wonder how it's going to be permanently solved...

The scene also confirms that the Kunai was indeed Boruto's. It's kind of odd that a Kunai would be branded but it made for a fun few days of sneak peek speculation so it's all good 😭🙏🏽✨️

Inojin is also still anchored by Koji to serve within the story, so that's cool. Normally, when a character gets a high point like he does, they're mostly discarded but I'm glad he's still gonna be useful and involved.

We cut to Amado's talk with Kawaki and he explains Kawaki's body parameters. It's kinda cool that we get confirmation on how chakra control actually works on the physical body. I do wonder how Amado is gonna keep up in a high stakes battle, will his scientific eyes be enough?

Sarada arrives to Boruto's location,

Love how the massive tree is drawn, wonder what it could be symbolising. The ensuing convo is cute with Boruto being more expressive and jovial, which is nice. It's the first time they get to really talk alone. Moments like this just work

...too bad it didn't last long though cuz plot's gotta plot. He explains his plan to her, which I think is risky. A smarter variation would be for Kawaki to hide in her ninja tool bag or something, but then again, he trusts her strength so it makes sense for him to propose this

The following page hammers in my point, actually. I think he's making a big mistake 😭

We shift back to the Shinju again & I love that they're basically the comic relief for this story. The concept of Jura & Neko Para is just hilarious. I love that it adds to their characters cuz they're a clean slate. I'm looking forward to what Jura thinks of cats now lmao 😭

Like 😭

Inojin is back & Amado manipulates the hell out of him. Amado has been pathetic for the longest time that I forgot he can be lethal when he needs to be. A random old man that just refuses to die until he achieves his goals

The following scene is why I like Ikemoto's handling of tension, following panel to panel the tension feels palpable. It also speaks to Amado's lethality cuz in just a few minutes, he plays 3 characters and gets exactly what he wants. It's genuinely insane

I say 3 because CLEARLY Kawaki didn't know what Amado was planning until he shut down Koji lmao. Amado successfully manipulated a shinobi into sending a clueless demi-god to apprehending an all-knowing cyborg with a god's clairvoyance. I wonder what he needs Koji for though?

Might it be to confirm if his plans will come to be? Little does he know Koji cannot control Prescience. Secondly, Koji's presence has always been temporary, I just never imagined Amado would be the one to take him out. Thirdly, how does this affect Boruto's plan with Sarada?

So many questions, man. But as always, time will tell. Until then,
