The global economy transacts in milliseconds and chases scammers in minutes. Yet in Indonesia, victims face a red-carpet highway for fraud. Here is a story of how our financial ecosystem sacrifices consumer protection to worship rigid bureaucracy 👇

A few weeks ago, I officially became a statistic. My hard-earned money vanished due to a fraudster.Being financially literate, I executed the playbook: secured a Police Report (STPL) and raced to a @HaloBCA branch to freeze the suspect's account. Instead, I hit a wall

@HaloBCA The compliance team of @HaloBCA flatly refused to act on my police report. They said: “We cannot execute an administrative hold without an official freezing order issued directly by the Regional Police Chief (Kapolres).” A month later, the letter is still buried in red tape.

@HaloBCA Meanwhile, the suspect’s account remains active. This isn't a limitation of technology—it’s a lack of political will.Look at global benchmarks: In the UK, APP scam regulations force banks to communicate and freeze funds within minutes. Delaying means a 100% bank liability.

@HaloBCA In Singapore, the Monetary Authority links law enforcement and banks via an Anti-Scam Centre. Retail customers have an instant "Kill Switch" to freeze mule accounts on the first paper trails. No waiting for bureaucratic signatures.alert.No

@HaloBCA Then, I escalated to the @ojkindonesia via the Indonesia Anti-Scam Centre (IASC). Their "smart" portal auto-rejected my emergency filing over a trivial data field error ("wrong column"). On July 8 at 5 PM, their agent flatly refused to help guide me through the digital labyrinth.

@HaloBCA @ojkindonesia We hear grand executive speeches about the "Digital Transformation of Banking." But it's a hollow marketing gimmick if we build apps that route capital in 1 second, yet require more than 30-day corporate runway and a @DivHumas_Polri clearance to mitigate blatant fraud

@HaloBCA @ojkindonesia @DivHumas_Polri As long as local lenders prioritize bureaucratic buck-passing over capital preservation, they function as safe harbors for financial crime syndicates. In Indonesia, when you are a victim of crime, prepare to be victimized a second time by the system your taxes pay to protect you

@HaloBCA @ojkindonesia @DivHumas_Polri Despite the bragging about digital innovation, our institutions take months to handle an emergency freeze that the rest of the world easily executes in seconds.
