People are still drawing amazing graphics on a 35 year old microcomputer, the Commodore 64. A thread, starting with this one by Duce/Extend:
The previous one was in multicolor mode (160×200 pixels, 16 colors). This one by Electic/Extend is in hires mode: one color per 8×8 block.
Back to multicolor with “The Eye of Shlarm” by ptoing/Funkentstört (by the way, this credit format is: nickname/crew)
A far cry from the blocky screens of Miner 2049er, Jumpman Junior or Fort Apocalypse: “Nootka sound is not for sale” by Jok/Elysium
Retrofuturistic cyberborg mega-overlord from planet MOS6510, in 8 bit glory. Another one by ptoing/Funkentstört:
“Dance of the Technowitches” by MekaSkull. I love the shiny feel squeezed out of the limited, rather earth-tone-y C64 palette.
Some seem to squeeze more pixels out of the limited resolution, “Road to Ranua” by Animal Bro & Ilkke/Funkentstört keeps it simple and cute:
This funky nightrider by Electric/Extend is another "HiRes" pic: 320×160 with one color per 8×8 pixel block (well, two including background)
Finally, this spooky pic by Debris/Panic makes use of just a few of the 16 colors and perfectly summons that old school C64 demo vibe:
I hope you dug these C64 pics! They were picked from the graphics compo held at the Zoo 2017 demo party in Finland: demozoo.org/parties/3080/
